Brazil has far less open racial hostility and much more tolerance of mixed-race relationships and individuals, but the evidence of structural racism is everywhere.

 

That is true indeed the best example is Pele the greatest footballer ever lived can't even be elected President because of his color. Slavery ended 23 years after the USA and Brazil wanted more Whites immigrated to that country. It is a mystery what Black men want in a Brazillian woman if he can't get one who is White?

 

I think it's changing in Brazil though, because Lula and Dilma are from the segment of society that is more racially mixed and open (the vast majority of the country). It's weird though, they're simultaneously more and less racist than the US, but in different ways. Although you can't generalize across the entire population.

 

Brazil has like this hard socioeconomic caste system with very little social mobility for the poor of all colors unless you excel in sports or entertainment.
Blacks not coincidentally seemed to be lumped at the bottom with all the other impoverished groups.

On the lower end of the socioeconomic scale, Brazil has the sideways look of a racial utopia. In the favelas it can look like a racial utopia.

You see more of the racial and social segregation when it comes to education and job mobility.

THe United States is still one of a kind, and IMO the best place to live in the Western world for people of color.

 

I've also found extremely high success rates for black West African immigrants to London and England more generally.

 

What the hell are you smoking people of color have way better lives in countries like Canada, France, Norway, and most of Western Europe. Places like the US and Brazil that have a long history of slavery are the worst places for people of color in the industrialized world.

 

Brazil was the first place in the New World that imported the African slaves.That is true apparently, from what I've been hearing about people of color living in Canada and parts of Western Europe.

 

Brazil is open-minded and friendly. The socio-economical caste system is evident. It is closer to the US in a lot of ways because of the caste system. But, it is a little more evident than it is in the US.

 

In fact Southerners had tried to settle in Brazil during the Civil War. One of those places is named Americanna.

In terms of economic mobility and integration into high income professions, I don't think any of these countries holds a candle to the USA for Black people.

Yes our bottom or underclass for Black folk is lower than it is in other Western nations, but our top is much higher as well.


It's easy for many of these Euro nations to appear liberal because they have fractional numbers of Black folk/immigrants.

 

That was true. To this day some citizens even fly the Confederate flag and have plantation balls(the men wear Confederate uniforms and the women wear the hoop skirts. They have these every year in honor of the south but a lot of their family have married peoples of color).

 

Canada and France have large numbers of blacks and what America are you living in fam? Wages are stagnant prices are going up and debt is high. The midfle class no longer exists here. This pro corppration(not business) environment is great for the rich but a slow death for everyone else.

 

Brazil has a black/mixed race population of 150 million people about 20 million less than Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation. There is an estimated 175 million people of african ancestry throughout latin america. It's a shame that unlike the Arabs, Asians, and Indians scattered around the world in which they attempt to unite through alliances. People of african descent do not.

 

They don't have the same divisive history of slavery either. Please tell the whole story because it makes it seem as if we are genetically incapable but others are. Its cultural which means it can be changed.

 

Let's gone average then because its applicable to more people.
I think that i can guarantee an average income for an African american in Norway is higher than in the us.

As someone that has lived in Norway and still spends significant amount of time there at least once a year, and currently lives in Canada (have for quite some time now).....what large number of blacks in Canada is it that you speak of? The 2.5%? You know Canada is not just Toronto or Montreal, right? LOL

 

When you can name a country where it's better to be a Black Man than the USA, let me know.

Personally, professionally, educationally, and in our private lives.
That clip laments for the country America used to be, but despite overall declines in international rankings in education, imports/exports, national debt, crime, I'd much rather be a BM in 2013 living in this country than at any other time in the past.

What is this best country for BM that you speak of that isn't right here in the United States??

Being critical of what this country has unfortunately become isn't the same as saying the U.S. still aren't the greatest vehicle for positive change in the world, whether or not we realize it all the time.

By nature I'm not a big flag waver. The 4th of July isn't a big holiday for me other than to spend time eating barbeque with friends and family.

But in my experience Black folk who think this country isn't the best in the world particularly for those of us of African descent either haven't lived abroad or don't know actual Black people living in these so called 'better' countries.

 

As far as Canada is concerned I meant the Toronto and Widsor area. Ive been to both and have dated women from there. Far more open minded less racial tension free healtgcare much cheaper education. You guys can pretend thebUS is the land of milk and honey if youd like but youre just deluding yourselves. Our quality of life here stinks.
