Yup. Have to dodge their buggies on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Sundays. There were Amish kids who rode our school bus when we were kids, too. The Amish are a big tourist draw, but for those of us who live here, they're just people with a simpler way of life.

That Amish Mafia is a joke. At least that's how the locals see it.

If you want a pretty drive, grab a map and just hit the countryside here. There is still plenty of farmland, Amish homesteads, one-room schoolhouses, etc. to see.

I am too. Reality TV (the good kind) has spoiled me for watching any other kind of TV. I'm into DIY TV mostly, though. Although I do have to catch Housewives of Atlanta when it's on. :smt081

I have a love/hate relationship with reality tv. I watch it because it pisses me off, if that makes sense. Lol. That phony drama, fake suspense...it kills me. But I can't stop watching.

I got invited to camp out in Armstrong for 5 days during Labor Week this summer with my dad, who is in Vancouver. (Haven't seen him a while!) I accepted the invite and I'm excited for it--I never been camping before, so it'll be a new experience.

In other news, uhm.....hmmm...oh yeah, my brother and his girlfriend are coming over as well from Vancouver this Saturday so I'm excited for that as well. ^_^

In other OTHER news, my Library DVD's finally came in, so now I can watch 'Wilfred' (US) and 'Sense and Sensibility' and I had to wait over 3 weeks...WORTH IT--I was busy with other things so I barely noticed that time flew like a fly.

*stares off into space, imagining the sight of that....*

Erm, my bad. I should've taken a picture of the whole pot. :p

This area is known for their stick-to-the-ribs cooking. Amish men expend alot of energy plowing fields and raising barns - their women have developed some of the best foods in the country to keep their men satiated.

I told a co-worker once (after witnessing Amish women walking to a wedding with their cake carriers and baskets of food) that I wanted to be an Amish woman. They stay home and cook, bake, sew, tend their gardens, care for their home and family - all the domestic arts I love. She burst my balloon when she asked me if I wanted to be married to an Amish man, then? :-|
