nice apartment in NYC...$2500-3000/mnth. from the bronx, born and raised. isn't worth it...which is why i moved to PA 6 months ago.

 

You had 49 other states to choose from and you picked PA??? Oy.

 

Being a native New Yorker born and raised, I couldn't see myself living outside of the northeast quadrant of the United States. I plan on purchasing a home in the Poconos area of PA in the next 2-3 years. Fresh air, beautiful all 4 seasons, hunting, fishing, camping...ahhhh.

Yes, it was a career move. Still make a NY salary, but the cost of living is a fraction of what it is in NY. There's always a plan sunshine...I'm methodical with the decisions I make. Plus I'm only a little over an hour from my children, which is very important to me. I am very active in their lives.

 

The ex was from the Poconos....I'll stay with my choice of the beach. Lol!

I am native to Chicago, I love it, I have home in the burbs and a small place in the city. The cost of living is terrible, taxes alone would make anyone :smt019

But I love to travel. My goal is to be able to work permanently mobile so I can travel 365. All though I will always come back to home base Chi. And settling down for me, I hope invloves businesses in Chi, LA, NY, and London, where I make 3-month rotations.

 

Yes I do, I was fortunate to spend summers doing a variety of outdoorsy things, as I often went to sleep away camp in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate NY, and also spent many summers with my family in the south. So while I'm a city boy at heart, I'd like to spend the rest of my adult life in a more serene setting, and doing outdoor activities during my spare time. It's so relaxing.

 

What are you studying? Good too see like-minded brothers doing the right thing.

 

One good thing about living in the Poconos is that it's considered a bedroom community of NYC. You can earn the NY bucks but live at PA prices. If you're willing to commute.

Accounting. I agree with you about the serene life. Just recently looked at some land in Dutchess County 5.8 acres for 23k. I want to build a little cottage on it and farm the land. That's my retirement plan, just farm a small patch of land with some chickens for eggs and a couple of goats for milk. My family has been doing that for over a hundred years and I want to start the tradition out here God willing. And hopefully I have my faculties so I can still write while I do.

In the US probably countryside Texas, North Carolina mountains or Florida. Internationally Argentina, Central America, Southern Spain or Italy.

 

I really don't know, who can be sure what will happen till that time- but wherever it will be - it must be sunny and warm

 

I like traveling to various places, but there's always that faithful expression, "There's no place like home." So, I'd rather stay in the south and make something of myself realistically.

But, if I were to decide to settle elsewhere, I have to be sure there's opportunity for me to continue my financial and healthy for of happiness. Having said that, these are locations I'd like to live in...

1. Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
Reason: Vibrant environment, good atmosphere, familiar yet, less spices in the foods (love spicy food), no excessive extreme weather conditions and overall, it's just a lovely place.

2. Melbourne, Australia
Reason: Sort of a toss up between Melbourne and Sydney, but Melbourne's economy has been really strong since the 1990's and it continues to thrive and plus, it seems much more livable compared to Sydney, especially when it comes to job opportunities. Plus, the people around there, as a whole, aren't flaky and generally open to seeing new faces roaming around. Plus, I can be my weird self.

3. London, England, UK
Reason: The main reason is to explore a piece of my British ancestry, in which its origins are from London. But other than that, I like a good bit of the environment and architecture that still reigns there. The locales may not be the utmost friendly, but I can learn a thing or two about being a cynical bastard. Plus, it's rich with history.

4. Great Britain
Reason: It's a beautiful island with a lot of vibrant activity and what have you. Not much else to say, but it's pretty decadent.

 

Knowing myself, I grew up in the North and I'll always be a Northern girl, but I would LOVE to live in these places:

1. New Zealand - it's basically untouched land with one or two major cities there but hey, I love nature and I'd love to live there!

2. England- It's got a lot of history and I also love history, plus I can relate to their earlier ways of living (fancy like lol) because I was sort of brought up like that (fancy manners and whatnot but it's no big deal), blame my british ancestors.

3- Los Angeles- Nuff said. :3

4- New Orleans- Hey what's a good time without a party city? XD
