Miss leading header. Has nothing to do with being an IR couple. Nothing at all. It was a revenge killing on a daughter to a man who was involved in Christopher Dorners dismissal from LAPD. I was in San Diego today while this unraveled. Can't post links on my device, but be clear nothing to do w a hate crime towards IR couples as the title insinuates. It's way worse. The manifesto is bat shit cold calculated sociopathic drivel. Dude is unhinged.
The manifesto is rambling towards the end, but his thesis is coherent; in order to change the culture of corruption in the LAPD, he's going to kill POs and their loved ones to force media attention to spotlight what the hell is going on in LAPD. Not the right way to go about it, but when officers are letting perps bleed out to collect overtime pay at the crime scene instead of offering first aid, or taking cell phone cam pics of dead suspects and passing them around among officers to compare who had the most gruesome kill, there's some real shit Dormer is talking about IMO. I'm not going to totally dismiss the grievances in his manifesto because of the means of redress he's chosen. When you read not just from Dormer but other media sources that many of the LAPD officers involved in the beating of Rodney King were eventually promoted to commanding posts in LA police precincts, it's a glimpse of just how bad the system is broken.
Separating his murderous rampage, which I condemn (as you do, no doubt), I concur with you on the rest. From what I understand from what little I have read, he was fired for complaining about abuse on a citizen from another cop? If this is true, the LAPD have a lot to answer for.
Well that's the entire problem they won't answer for it. You gotta wonder what will it take for things to truly change. Smh
Blue wall of silence is no joke. They go to desk-duty purgatory here -- an eternal pariah. It doesn't pay to 'snitch' - funny though how they ask citizens to on fellow citizens, but when the criminal wears a badge, it's no see, hear or speak shit. I don't see it changing. Ever.
Having worked in law enforcement(corrections officer) for a short time, I submit to you that it is an honorable brotherhood. Like in the military, the phrase, "You watch my back and I'll watch yours," applies. But, the big eat the little if you don't play along, or they don't like you. That was the hard lesson l learned the day I turned in my resignation. I you are alone in a hostile environment with very little or no support whatsoever, you shouldn't be there.
And people wonder why I am not ra ra about the "authorities" having all the power. At the end of the day they are still human beings capable of horrid and unspeakable acts. A badge nor a neatly pressed uniform makes them any more trustworthy than you or I.
I support law enforcement. My father was one of New Jersey's first black state troopers. I had always admired him in his uniform. The LAPD has a long history with corruption and other controversies. One or more bad apples can and will spoil the whole bunch. It was called "The Best Police Force In The World." If the LAPD wants to be so again they will have to get their houses(precincts)in order so no one like Chris Dorner does this again.
A sociopath has no conscience. They possess a fundamental inability to identify with or understand basic human emotional responses and most live their lives as mimics, 'pretending' to act normal. Dorner is deranged, but he's not a sociopath. I think his threats about how he's going to hunt down and kill bad cops is just boasting. With a 10,000 cop manhunt tracking him I'd say it's nearly impossible for a 6 foot, 270# BM to be stealthy. Yes it is coldblooded when he threatens to kill other cops, but again I think the only officers whose lives are in jeopardy are the ones who finally track him down.
. Are you kidding?! All he has done since starting this us lacking conscience. Also. You missed the part where he said as he was not allowed to have a family, he is gonna take 'yours'. And that the girl he killed had nothing to do with him other than being the daughter to a man that had a part of him being dismissed. To punish him. Pure lack of concsience. The whole manifest on is screaming about having no conscience. He is a bona fide sociopath. He may not have been before, he had a high code of honor. But he is now.
You don't become a sociopath. You're either born one or you're not. Every killer isn't a sociopath. Maybe his logic makes no sense, which is why I call him deranged, but IMO he's not what I'd call a sociopath. True sociopaths are different from rage or spree killers. This guy just flipped out. He believes his killings have a purpose. Most soldiers are trained to kill without conscience. That's not the same as having NO conscience in the first place.
Sociopaths can restrain themselves and it can take a long time before they escalate to this type of behavior. You can believe what you want but I wholeheartedly disagree. He has shown clear lack of conscience, not to mention a lot of other behavior he displays in the manifesto. He is a sociopath IMO. Period. I usually agree w you, but not in this.
He's a psychopath, not really a sociopath. Killing LAPD cops isn't random for this guy. Neither was killing the daughter of his lawyer, whom he feels deliberately misrepresented his internal affairs case, and her fiancee. No one is defending Dormer's actions, but his profile isn't really one of a sociopath. It bothers me a little that there's a narrative already being written about this guy with very little investigation about the accusations that set him off in the first place. Does he deserve that?? Not really. But in this case I think there's more going on than your typical ex-employee who decides to go postal.
