As an erotic romance writer, I can tell you that nobody buys books with heroes who do dishes, mop floors or iron. These things just aren't sexy. In real life, it is very nice to have help around the house, but that doesn't necessarily translate into sex. Although it is sexist, the bottom line is (at least as applies to fantasy which is what I deal with) women dream about the alpha hero. That doesn't mean they ONLY want that type of man, but that's the type that gets the heat on.

Will take a goof ball, who is affectionate and supportive, accepting me as I am and showing interest in what's going on in my life over an Alpha male type of guy any day.
With billions of women in the world not every individual woman wants the same kind of guy.
    Whatever makes one happiest. :)

Can you name me the books where the hero's are washing dishes, mopping floors, and ironing?

Just like most guys don't want a porn star and all that goes with that, most women don't want the hero of a romance novel. A guy who can laugh with me, cry with me, and not expect me to take care of all the chores will get laid way more often than the guy who leaves the house to me. Because frankly, what's he bringing to the situation except one more thing to dust? If he wants me to have enough energy for sex at the end of the day, sitting on his ass while I wrangle dinner, dishes and laundry isn't the way. I don't want a child. I want a partner.

Sparkly abusive vampires and brains dead heroines don't do it for me.

But as I said, it's fantasy. Here is what I think. Men don't really want a porn star partner who drops trou with anyone at the flash of a camera. They want a woman who enters into sex joyfully, willing to explore boundaries, who loves sex - a woman who makes him feel like he is a porn star. And women don't really want the book guy. They want a man who makes them feel as loved and cherished and valued as the guy in the book makes his woman feel.

But here is something interesting - women would rather be divorced than play the housewife. women prefer divorce to neo traditional housewife

Because we get the shit end of the stick. Work full time, carry babies, arrange child care, cook, clean, do laundry, dishes, run the errands, arrange the social life, keep track of everyone's birthdays, so the shopping. While the guy works mows the lawn 12 times a year? not exactly an equal situation. If I'm expected to do everything my grandmother did, plus work a job like my dad did...I'm a little too peeved to be happy when the lump in front of the TV tells me I missed a spot while I'm overseeing homework, making dinner and vacuuming at the same time. He just becomes one more thing I have to dust. He isn't adding anything to my life. He is just another kid not pulling his weight.

What is especially effeminate about scrubbing floors, washing windows and the like? That's pretty hard physical labor.

Now a man who cooks and cleans and shares the load? In my life, he gets a hell of a lot more sex than the guy I divorced who thought marriage was a ticket to having a personal servant.

Most of whom have household staff and don't have to work 50 hours a week. We don't live in their world, and I don't see anyone of of you guys on that forum able to support that kind of lifestyle.

I will be book marking this post for the next time some dummy tries to assert that these athlete wives are deserving of multimillion dollar settlements because you're right they do have a staff and rarely do much.
And I'm also glad you agree that if I am able to support a certain lifestyle a woman should fall back and let daddy do his thing ya dig
