that's because you went to a 'karate' school

you need to start hanging out at the MMA gyms with those hardcore, 'Cyborg' joints

I'm all for equal opportunity they deserve the chance to prove themselves I just don't think the outcome will be what they think but I'm willing to admit I may be wrong. We will see.

Chris Cyborg and Gina Carano are frigging beasts but even they wouldn't hold a candle to elite fighters in their weight class. They could beat the piss out of me though

every time I sparred..i ended up sparring with a dude no matter how many women were in the class

coach says it's because of my build..but i just think he likes seeing me fight the 6'6, 300 ex-OL that hangs out there

    :smt017

250/month is a lotta fucking money tho for training

at least with BJJ, there is a sport aspect so you get to learn how to fight and shit, but you also get to fight and shit...

it's not a complete waste of money..plus they're running a deal around here....i just gotta stop being cheap and roll up on it before i'm too old to fight

you don't agree with my post

    :p

Mate, did you notice the word...KID? Karate is the McDonalds of MA styles. I've progressed to a more finite Art that I like to refer to as the finishing school of MA.

My ex-b/f took up mai tai boxing on the side and encouraged me to, which I passed on....I have been to full contact fights since I was 13 to watch them, but I have not tried MMA style only because the art I practice is so similar to the styles used in their cage fights. I do love watching them though. The blood doesn't faze me at all.

No, I was highlighting it. Letting it marinate. :p (then I edited it, lol)

Ok wow, reading this, I realized the Military Channel did a reality-series on I think this very training course. It was so effing brutal, I was panting at their panting. NO WAY in hell could I, would I - the psychological toll alone on the participants was so fierce...many became delusional from exhaustion.
I think this is why I have a PROFOUND respect for our soldiers who make it to the front-line...they are effing amazing to have been able to graduate.

*Now I wonder if it's on YT (the series)...would love to see it again.

Fam its NY nough said. Plus it was the only Krav Maga spot in the area. I actually just sigbed up for aikido for three months. Ill be honest with you I feel like Im way too old to start up major grappling like that. I did judo for a year when I was 19 and that shit use to wear me the fuck out. Terrified of all the crazy injuries asdociated with bjj. Recovery in your 30s is triple the time it was in your teens

    depends on your conditioning

took me about a solid week to recover from a torso injury i sustained from getting tossed around like a ragdoll

as long as you got FMLA time saved up and health insurance, you'll be ok

    lol

some guys really roll like they're training for a fight (oh wait...they probably are), so someone is bound to get hurt eventually

i used to go to class and work hurt...you kinda push on through the pain like with any other sport

after a while tho...your body actually does toughen up hence the conditioning

shit that used to cause pain didnt cause it anymore cause my ass was getting numb

    Ooops. LOL.

Funny I was listening to a female cadet being interviewed and she nervously said; normally we'd be "ra- ra!", but with this we are more like 'yay??" lol.

But ty for the YT tip, will search some out ~

Well you've been doing it for awhile, starting this late for me could be really bad. I don't mind other arts particularly striking arts like karate and kung fu but the worst pain I ever felt was being flipped on my back by some military dude taking the judo class for fun and I was hurt for a week. If that shit happened now I'd be out of commission for half the year probably lol

    Interesting POV.

I heard a Commander called in to a show and recite about a female soldier who was "built like a bulldog" on his squad, but that in cases of crisis, some of his men still instinctively went out of their way to protect only HER, even endangering their life and their fellow male soldiers. He wasn't happy about it.
