Currently watching the original Evangelion, still on the early episodes but already I can see why its considered one of the all time greats.
I never got into Evangelion. I will have to see it one day, or read the manga for a better understanding. I had read a good deal about it and it is up there with Mobile Suit Gundam, the longest running anime series out there.
It's a bit complicated to explain. Basically it plays in a world,in which there is a coexistence balance. There are so-called Tera Guardians who are supposed to maintain that balance. Regular humans are called Doppeliner. Each human exists 3 times, there is 1 root and 2 copies. When one copy meets the other copy of the same person their luck gets transferred to the root of the same person. If a copy meets the root then only the luck of that particular copy-not the other copy's luck- is transferred to the root. Those who have lost their luck will soon also lose their life, whereas a root has the luck of both his or her 2 copies,he or she has supernaturally much success and luck. Some Tera Guardians told all this to regular people (who otherwise would not know about any of this) and as a result some copies try to kill their root, and then they turn into a so-called Negative Root.In that case they get all the success and luck of a root, but on top of that other abilities that a root does not have usually.
Yes. I'd say the plot is complicated, but interesting. I guess the show's creator wanted to show a world where everyone has more than one chan to reach their full potential.
