They are not complaining about taking care of multiple kids or mothers but that he even has multiple kids and mothers. The shit is beyond ridiculous and is seen and accepted as the status quo of the black community by too many people including our own and that bullshit needs to stop.
ok then if they are not complaining about him taking care of his and complaining that he has multiple kids and babies mama so be it, my point is people are over looking the fact he is taking care of his. my opinion... if we stop and look at the fact that he didn't run away from his responsibilities and actually being a man about his kids and his responsibilities... it makes sense that they would do a tv show about a man who should've used protection yes but is owning up to his responsibility. if anything the show is showcasing someone we isn't like the rest of most men in Amercia, men of any nationality.
I don't think anyone is over looking the fact that he seems to be taking care of the kids & mothers, but his overall irresponsibility in letting this kind situation occur greatly overshadows any positives that maybe going on in that kind of situation. The shit needs to stop being showcased as normal and acceptable.
This is the shit right here for me bro. This nigga don't get no accolades for taking care of his 11 kids with 10 women, he made his bed. He know the deal. There are a lot of punks running around who do what Shawty Lo did having all those kids with different hoodrats and continuing the cycle of irresponsibility in the black community. Putting this bull on TV just makes it seem like this is kosher. That shit ain't cool at all. He may have a bunch of kids from different women and can afford it, what about the niggas that do it and can't take care of them in the black community, that this show is clearly targeting.
so your telling me you aint never had unprotected sex? I'm not saying its acceptable by any means however we cant point a finger and say someone is wrong for doing something we have all done... should he have gone under the knife after child #4 or $5... yes however i dont see whats the big deal of showcasing someone who is doing what he is supposed to do by his kids. for all we know, this show could let others see that even if they made a mistake and have more kids and babies mamas than they can count on their hands... they can still support them and take care of them. i know you and GQ wont see it how i do and you both make good points however maybe i just choose to see the positive side of things.
I understand what you are trying to say, but my whole thing is the wider focus even beyond Shawty Lo and the target audience of this show. Shawty is an ex dope boy from Bankhead in ATL who parlayed that into a rapping career and now he can take care of all those kids because of that. The wider focus I mentioned above however is that there are others who do the kind of things that he does as far as having different baby mamas, but they aren't taking care of business and it is wreaking havoc on the hood because of that irresponsibility. The black community should be above looking at dope boys turned rappers and multiple baby mama having dudes as examples to learn from positively. That is part of what has shit all fucked up right now when it comes to priorities and what being a good man is about in the hood. Too many folks now have shit twisted about priorities and what being a strong black man is.
Co-Sign the bolded parts. And yes, I've had my rare instances back in the day of having unprotected sex or rather not wearing a condom. I just had the combination of good fortune & some sense that the few women that I did it with in those instances had sense & their priorities straight enough that they themselves were using some type of birth control and weren't the types who where trying to get pregnant by just anyone at anytime.
Rep added. you make a very good point and i have to agree with you on this. would it be different if he was a d-boy turned corp american vice president of say yahoo or something? just curious...
Yeah by looking at the picture you can see this show is going to exist for the sole purpose of exemplifying bafoonery. Look at his attire and how he presents himself. What kid needs to think he can get anywhere by wearing fat pink shoe laces with untied shoes with his pants hanging off his ass. Just talking about it makes me want to slap the shit out of him.
Shawty Lo Responds To 'All My Babies' Mamas' Critics http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/...ds-all-my-babies-mamas-critics_n_2440899.html
Just like a heard a comedian said one time that some niggas want credit for the things they are supposed to do. Like "I take care of my kids" Nigga that is what you are supposed to do!! Are we supposed to praise you for taking care of your own responsibility? I would have more respect for him if he was not presenting himself as a clown. I am fine with him being a rapper. Not all rappers come off like a total buffoon.
There is a certain stereotypical view about black men in America and this fool is perpetuating it. Remember the story of that fool with 21 kids with 11 women and was just 29 years old? Wasnt he black? It is fools like this who make white people lump black men into one category including cops.
In the dope lifestyle usually a harsh fate awaits, be it prison or death. The odds are always stacked that a negative outcome is the likelihood given the nature of the lifestyle. Look at the crazy shit going on in Mexico with the cartels, chopping off of heads and murdering left and right over control of turf and transit routes into the US. In the dope game there is always someone gunning for the next man's spot on the food chain. Never know when the end is coming in an often zero-sum game.
Straight up truth. Maybe its the case that I'm holding this dude to too high of a standard for recognizing issues in the black community and should just say fuck it, with all the crap reality TV junk on our HD sets anyway. Its just that I know there are young, impressionable black kids who will watch this and think its okay and cool as a muthafucka to be Shawty Lo. Which is the last thing we should want given the problems around single parent households and its appalling effects in the hood.
Just providing financial support isn't taking responsibility for your kids. It takes a whole lot of love, and a whole lot of work. I have trouble seeing how, especially since they are spread across ten households, this guy really *is* taking responsibility for his children. From where I sit, he is writing a check, and the ten women are raising these kids alone while he goes out to play rap star & boyfriend to the young woman. Until it gets through the heads of guys like this that dropping sperm and running even if you DO write a check doesn't make you a father, this shit on TV glorifying this is not cool.
To some that is inevitable however, if they aren't seeing it on their tv sets they're seeing it outside their homes, sometimes within the home
And how do you think it got to that point? Shit just didn't happen overnight. That shit needs to be the rare exception and not the damn standard. Our people had better standards for themselves back when we were slaves. How & why the fuck have our standards fallen to shit like that since then?
