Fair and balanced media? Iintegritous media? Laughable.

Give me one good reason why they did this -

Desperate much? In their feeble attempt to to try to "out" or 'shame' constitutionally protected, law-abiding gun owners, they are in fact telling criminals three things...

    1. the people whose names are not on there are sitting ducks...

    2. if you want to eff with the sitting ducks and need a gun,
guess where you can TRY to break in to find one.

    3. don't eff with the listed people, period.

This will and has already backfired on the paper.

Criminals dont plot in that way but I do see people being protested against and be persecuted by neighbors and employers. Its really fucked up since theyre all law abidong. Why not list all the sex offenders in the paper you know peoppe who have actually done harm.
All this will do is increase more illegal gun owners

Criminals and sex offenders do get listed - and that's the point. They are subliminally using the same tactic.

But you're very mistaken on your first point...FACEBOOK is notoriously known for it.

But here it is in a nutshell....

Infographic: 80% of robbers check Twitter, Facebook, Google Street View

    Less houses to rob

    :p

Jk that is bullshit tho...trying to exploit people doing something which has been viewed as a constitutional right

THe media is trying to reset social norms about guns, like they did with cigarettes and alcohol. One brick at a time. Take the 'cool' or 'manhood' factor out of owning a gun.

This is absurd. I hope the newspaper goes under from the lawsuits for this.

They have done NOTHING wrong by owning guns.

What the f*ck did they hope to accomplish by doing this??

I would be outraged at this.

This is why I've said all along that the media has gotten completely OUT OF CONTROL and needs to be reined in a bit. They could be putting innocent peoples' lives in jeopardy.

You sound like an absolute jack ass sir.
In this case theyve opened people up to all kinds of discrimination from jobs future employers and any asshole protestor that wants to make an example of them. These have done absolutely nothing wrong and shouldnt be held out to dry publicly as if theyre ex cons or pedpophiles. And please stop trying to make the media sound noble. All they care about is sensationslizing stories and selling papers.

Exactly. Ive seriously had it up to here with assholes who think their crusade against anyone who has touxhed a legal gun is valid. The vast majority just want to live in peace and protect their fsmilies if need be

It's legal to own guns. How is an employer going to discriminate against a future employee because he owns a gun?? Legally??lol

It's telling that people who own guns or are pro-gun ownership feel uncomfortable with others knowing they own firearms.
    Why??:smt102

To me it's really no different that a newspaper listing the names of people who bought high end import wine the last 30 days.
    So what??

It's weird to me that a gun owner would want to be secretive about others knowing he owned a gun. That's just strange.

I don't think you have a right to privacy when it comes to owning a gun. In fact as a point of public safety, I personally would like to know which one of my neighbors owned firearms. Just to keep that shit in the back of my mind.

Listing a gun owner in the newspaper is a far cry from being associated with pedophiles or ex cons. It really should make no difference because most reasonable people should not care.

Unless knowing that others know you own a firearm makes you feel uncomfortable.:smt038

Theres public record then theres public outing and advertising. It was done with a malicious purpose. What was th reasoning for it other than to bring some kind of public shaming on these people for doing nothing wrong. And its exactly like being put out there like criminals. Guns are associated with criminal activity right now. Its such an emotionally charged situation and make things worst for people minding their own damn business. Do you think they should organize and list all the abortion doctors in that area too?

Look at what you're equating gun ownership; abortion doctors and pedophiles.

This is a a ploy yes, but this initial step isn't really going to do anything except make others aware of how prevalent gun ownership is. It's not meant to shame gun owners. The next step nationally is to register ALL gun owners.

I think most gun owners could give a shit if someone knows they own a gun or not.

    I'd want to know.
Just in case you know, I'm in Denny's eating crappy American food and said concealed owning neighbor came in pissed off about such a thing..or got pissed off about such a thing or whatever little thing people now feel they have the right to shoot and kill over.

Just like pro gun want to own in an attempt to stay alive I'd like to know in an attempt to want to stay alive in case mr. Righteous Gun Slinger flips his shit and decides he wants to go out witha bang.

Yeah I would definitely want the opportunity to avoid those people who own guns. Isn't that the same thing gun owners want too, the chance to protect themselves from the mean ol' scary world outside their windows by arming themselves??

It's like if I'm in a club where I get word there are dudes packing, I'm leaving.:smt111

    Yup

If wild Wild West is known to frequent a certain public place I'm sure as fuck not going to go there on the regular.

Sure wild Wild West may have obtained his shit legally but knowing there is no training or mental illness or criminal background check..

He could snap at any time or anyone of his kindred that has access to said guns...I'd like to avoid it if I can.
Sorta like how non-smokers are free to avoid public places because they don't want to be exposed to smoke..

    Like that.

Fuck outta here. Why are they publishing ppls name and address, that shit is crazy.

Like TDK said some gun hating fanatic employer can use this to discriminate. He doesn't have to tell u/verbalize it that he ain't hiring your ass coz you own a weapon, but can simply just use it against you.

If my name is up there, I would look into a law firm who would pick up the case against the News paper and go to court with it.

Lol youre both ridiculous as hell. What small ass hick towns do you live in where that would be a remote chance. You think in these spree killings that could possibly prevent anything? Its about shaming people nothing more nothing less. Do you drive a car? Want a list of the people on your are of people who sped? Thats public record too. There are far more people dyinf because of wreckless drivibg. You two make absolutely no sense

    Agreed.

I would want to know which of my neighbors had a gun, anyway. And it's pretty much public record, anyway. Just like if you've paid your property taxes this year, and how much they are. Saves me the trouble of going down to City Hall and looking it up.

And I never understood the whole 'manhood' or 'cool' aspect to owning a gun -personally, I've always thought that only cowards owned them.
