It will be tough at least at first but that is the whole point to push yourself HARD. Just wait until you try "Grace" or "Fran" you are in for the opposite of a treat ;)

Nothing prepares you for CrossFit. Nothing. You just have to go and do it. It will hurt. A lot. But the rewards far outweigh anything else. :)

Are you certified in something we don't know about? Because I'd hate to see you spouting off what you know in a way that could get someone hurt...like the lie that CrossFit is not teaching people proper lifting. Or that it's not a sport. Furthermore, what are you doing in a thread about CrossFit if you believe those lies?

Oh gosh, my first WOD ever was Helen. I'd still rather do her over Isabelle, which is what we did today. Freakin' snatches.

You're quoting stats from nearly 20 years ago? Why? So there's evidence from back then that CF isn't dangerous, which is what I've been saying. I don't get your point, but whatever. Carry on.

In other news...I PRd on my deadlift today. 215lbs.

Oh, and my back doesn't hurt. Just an FYI. When you do it RIGHT, you don't hurt yourself. Funny how that works...just sayin'

I am taller and skinny, and the last time I tried to lift heavy weights, I ended up with a hernia, lol. Now I just continue with my endurance sports and low weights and lots of repetitions. It works better for my frame I think.

Well, you gotta do what works for you. Chances are, you did too much, too fast, because we get warned about that as a potential consequence if you do things wrong or try to be a hero (i.e. lift more than you have any right to for that day..lol). But, I'm glad you found something that works now! :)

I love when I go up in weight. I feel like the hulk. I'm happy that your hard work has paid off. Do you bench in crossfit? Just curious. I personally don't do crossfit but I enjoy bodybuilding so I am just curious.

We do once in a great while as part of the skill building. I can't remember the last time I did it, though.

But yeah, totally. I kept lifting the bar today and I was like 'HOLY SHIT, was that 200?...Was that 205?' lol The girls I was partnered with topped out at 190, and I just kept going. My coach was like 'You wanna put some weight on that bar, or what?' ROFL

Ha, stop. No one wants to see pics of me. lol I wish they had snapped a pic of my PR today. Damn. lol

They are good...they're the Minimus shoes, but I just got a pair of inov-8 bare 200s, and I like them even more. Highly recommended!

HAHAHA...my CF coach has a saying...'CrossFit is for everyone, but not everyone is for CrossFit'...and I think that applies to everything. I have several friends like you that are avid soccer players and things like that... they love it. :) That's why I'm glad there are a lot of sports out there. Options are important, although Im' finding these options are starting to become as difficult to talk about as politics! LOL

I just thought it was interesting to post that's all since this was a fitness related thread.

Also LOL @ Crossfit not being dangerous. I will stick with the knowledge of Olympic Weightlifters on this topic.

Could pick this apart but people will think I'm trolling.

    errr can't resist...

Improper shoes for weight bearing exercises:
    http://www.exrx.net/WeightTraining/Weightlifting/WeightliftingShoes.html

Re: Atlas stone over the head. WHOA slow down. Improper form. Don't want to injure yourself. My prejudice against Crossfit is the relatively safe exercises they bastardize and somehow turn them into unsafe exercises and think they are OK.

A professional would not allow this. But hey, when Crossfit charges up to $125 a month who cares really?

I WILL say I do like how Crossfit incorporates metabolic conditioning into workouts, but IMHO they do it wrong.

I like how he mentions how advanced lifts should NOT be introduced into metabolic programming since they are not designed for that.

Goes into a bit of linear periodization and programming.
