He didn't fire twelve rounds. After the first 3-4 I heard, the would be thieves rolled out.

What would they have done with your 9mm? Or no gun at all? Hey guys wait while I call the Cops. Or stand there and give me enough time to shoot all of you 4 times with my 9mm.

We need better gun control enforcement and restriction of certain firearms.
It's not about preventing what happened in Connecticut, for me it's about reducing overall gun violence as a whole.
The ES shooting is a part of a greater gun violence problem in the U.S., the massacre in Connecticut just allows us to see the problem clearer in its entirety.

I can't agree with AB saying owners shouldn't have anything more powerful than a 9mm. First of all they jam (I know you disagree with me on the jam), but some homeowners need a shotgun or even a rifle for distances.

Both of these women protecting their lives and one her newborn baby's, used a rifle and shotgun respectively....

This is quite chilling...because she doesn't want to shoot him. But he won't stop. :(

Good Videos Bliss!! Sometimes people have to do what they have to do, making the right decision is not always easy but it yields the best results.

One of my local talk radio hosts wont mention the killer's name during his show for the same reasons.

Morgan reflects the sentiment of many, but it's hard to avoid and not as easy as turning off the TV anymore.

I feel the media have been doing a good job with the recent massacres, however. We did know a lot about the heroes of Aurora and Yahoo News have been highlighting the victims personalities as well as the heroics of some as soon as their names were released.

This isn't new media behavior though, albeit it's been for far more famous people. We know as much about the Kennedys' assassins, MLK's, Malcolm's Lennon's, Reagan's (attempted) and even killers like the Boston Strangler, Jack the Ripper and other famous serial Killers like Gacy to Dahmer...

So now we do we have copycats? Or a mentally disturbed individual once again...

Unbelievably, this law passed in Michigan on the day of the shootings -

"Michigan passed a law Friday that will allow the carrying of concealed weapons in previously off-limits areas including schools, churches, day cares and sports stadiums."

Lets compare the violence in America to Japan, because you can tell a lot about a country in three days~Implied by Aliona :smt081

Japan?? Really now. Didn't we establish already in this thread with Andreaboba's CDC statistics that
the majority of U.S gun violence is self-inflicted via suicide and/or accidental?

Fine, compare then we shall -
Japan has 128 million people to our 315 million....

In 2009, the number of suicides in Japan was 32,845, exceeding 30,000+ suicides for 13 straight years.

Japan is #7 of the world's highest suicide rates, America is #38.

71% of suicides in Japan were by males. In fact, suicide in Japan is a HUGE national social-issue as it is the leading cause of death in men aged 20-44.

BTW, in an act of absolute slap-in-the-face irony, on Sept 10th this year ...
Yeah, let her compare because as we see, Japan has their shit together way better than us horrible Americans. :smt009

I wonder how a gun rights advocate would feel about guns if his/her loved one was attacked with a gun?

As someone who can't stand guns I can assure you that if someone shot a loved one of mine I would want to do the same thing back but draw it out and make them suffer. Shoot one limb at a time.

Harsh? yes maybe, but that is how it makes me feel.

Australia brought in the 'buy back gun law' about 17 years ago I think. It was after a massacre here, they put the law in process, and had all guns surrenedered destroyed.

Planning a bunch of IEDs would have caused way more casualties than guns. Getting guns is easier yet he would have done more damage without guns. End of story. Your argument that preparation would somehow lessen this guy's effectiveness is just ridiculous. The ease of getting guns as you call it took preparation. He had planned to do wrong and it was going to happen whether he used guns or not. History is ripe with people like this. So your argument makes no sense. I'm sorry but I can't agree with this. I understand some want to do away with guns but your reasoning is flawed here.

How was making a homemade bomb going to cause more damage than walking into an ES with three guns and unloading the clips?? Why build a bomb when there are available guns in his mother's condo??

There's a reason why soldiers use automatic rifles in combat, because it's easier to kill more people that way.

Again, no one wants to do away with ALL GUNS. That's your paranoia talking. We want reasonable firearms restrictions, including background checks on ALL SALES.

Guns are designed to do one thing only; kill people very efficiently. There are just too many of them out here for anyone to believe they are going to make themselves safer by having one.

The military uses artillery strikes as well as CAS among many other forms before infantry is used. But ummm... Keep on believing that. A planned bomb will hands down cause more damage than a man with a gun or three guns. I know because I have experienced the difference. There is a difference between paranoia and experience and there are plenty of laws in place for gun owners. Wanting even more restrictions is YOUR paranoia. Enjoy your day.

Just wanted to add most rifles aren't automatic. They are semi automatic ( 3 round burst with the M4 and the M16). Furthermore, the fire team maintains one automatic weapon (SAW or 249 and if mounted possible 50 cal or MK19). Even with all of this each platoon and mission maintains a FO for artillery stokes in case they are mortared or overrun. The truth is guns don't do the most damage, artillery does. Just to clarify.

Keep doing what you do, hon.

Trouble: that was me. I forgot to sign it. You won't get far here (obviously) but its a good thing to work for.
