I agree, I should have worded that differently. Personally, I have used guns and rifles in the past. I have found that they only fire when you either 1. forget to respect the weapon and pay attention to wtf you are doing or 2. you wanted it to fire. I know some people feel that a rifle or gun equates death, but, it is rather harmless when it is sitting in an armsroom or packed away in preparation. However, I do understand that many people live very comfortable lives and see no reason to have to defend themselves using anything other than a police whistle and fisticuffs. To each their own.

GL, go watch the video I posted, there are over 20,000 gun laws already on the books, how many more do you think we need? That being said, I do agree with you that civilians do not need military grade weaponry.

I see where you are coming from. But, mass killings were happening before the rifle, and will happen long after.

This country has too many firearms in circulation among the general population, whether or not those guns were obtained illegally or not.

We have too much gun violence in this country.

The way you limit gun violence is to eliminate the vast amount of firearms out on the streets.

There's something abnormal about the fact there are almost enough guns in our country for every man, woman and child, from infant to the elderly.

It's not just an issue about preventing an incident similar to what occurred in Connecticut. It's about reducing gun violence period.

And Bliss the Feds don't need nukes to defeat a 'well armed militia'. THey have tanks. Lots of them. That's all it would take.

No one is saying or even trying to eliminate all handguns from private ownership. But why is it that so many pro gun advocates only hear the other side is trying to take away their guns??

This is the fetishization and paranoia I just don't understand from the pro gun rights group.

um yeah..it's the mental convictions of a killer that worries me more than a fucking gun

use a prison as an example...inmates arent allowed guns obviously, but that still doesn't stop them from jerry-rigging a weapon to kill/maim fellow inmates

the psychology behind a killer needs to be examined and isolated, not just their tools

I am against gun and ammo hoarding. I agree we don't need all those guns per person...but that isn't what the anti-gun legislatures are asking for. They want to repel A#2. That's where I draw the line.

and you'll still have gun trafficking and profiteers doing what theyve been doing for decades....finding a way to make a dollar dealing illegal arms from god knows where

it's virtually impossible to curtail firearms just as it's impossible to curtail drugs

as long as you have people with the ability to manufacture a gun wherever they are, you'll have them anywhere you go

Your kitchen and or bathroom sink is an arsenal of possible weapons, from jabbing devices to IEDs. The truth is that a person needs to have his/her mind set on killing and they will find a way. It is easy with or without a gun. We just need Psych Evals for most people, not just owners.

The same can be said for those who are against it. Each group feels they know what's best.

Can you cite any link where a prominent anti gun violence advocacy group wants to REPEAL the 2nd Amendment??

Sorry, but this is a right wing myth.

The NRA is scaring the shit out of conservatives in partnership with gun manufacturers to SELL MORE GUNS AND AMMO.:smt101

    Fyi. I don't watch Fox news. ^^^

LOL @ the good of the people. Man, criminals love you.

    A blogger:
"We have had gun control laws in place for decades. Give me 15 minutes on a street corner, and I can have a Glock. Taking guns away from law-abiding citizens will not change that. The only thing accomplished is creating even more helpless victims for the criminals who will be laughing themselves silly at the stupidity of a government that disarms its citizens. I've been the victim of crime; I have no intention of being easy prey again."

Btw, you said earlier as a solution, make guns more expensive so people won't be able to afford them, well gee thanks. I'm glad I got mine when I did. :???:

true dat....but if I had to choose between a gun crazed man versus a knife crazed man....I choose the knife.

chances for victory or survival is better against a knife

Not so much against an IED. I thought we were discussing mass murdering in the U.S.

You can lie all day on a psych eval. So yeah, psych evals=won't stop shit.

What loki says is absolutely the bottom line.
If someone wants to kill they will kill. That cannot be stopped. Ever. We have been killing each other and a lot of other things since we figured out we could.

    But look..
If psycho A wants to kill...and he can go into his moms guns cabinet and grab guns and ammo...OR...we has to formulate some kind of bomb or IED or what have you that takes preperation and time and planning.

I can bet you dimes to dollars that what Lanza did was most planned an prepared for. He had been around guns, knew how to shoot them..take aim.

But the ability to be so deadly would have been greatly reduced if he had to actually make effort to kill.
Instead of go to a school with his moms guns and then take aim and fire.

If he had to make an effort, unless he really wanted to do it, he wouldn't have done it.
