I'm sorry to intrude on your conversation about something I know nothing about. Can y'all enlighten me for a bit though.

What's an oreo? I mean besides the cookie, which is yummy, and I should eat more of.

This kind of stuff baffles me.

Who cares who someone else is with? Seriously, seriously, seriously.
If it's not directly affecting you (not you...the men here..but the people who call you oreo's) then why should you spend even one minute of your time thinking about it or worrying about what mister black man is doing with miss white woman?

So what if you don't want to date a black man or a white woman or vice versa...or whatever...

I just don't get why some people have to make this big ass deal about who does what with whom just because they wouldn't do it.

Cosign which is why I hope to get back into a corporate environment again sooner rather than later. For better or worst those people are usually terrified of bringing up bullshit like that. I had a dude at work tell me I wasn't really black because my girl is white, which I find ironic since dude only messes with Hispanic women lol. I know he's joking around but it does drudge up shit from childhood. "You must wanna be white since you like math, read, and like them white girls", "you listen to rock, you like to snowboard, you can't play basketball? You're whiter than I am"
Shit always irked me but I do enjoy seeing people who didn't let the bullshit sway them from personal achievement and fall into some pseudo bullshit of what it is to be black.
I did it for a good year back in hs and all I can say is thank God I had two working parents and went to a "good" school because my life track could have severely been derailed trying to prove my damn "blackness"
So happy to see dudes like RG3, hope they become the norm and the exceptions.

Oreos are black on the outside and white on the inside. The new age uncle toms trying to be white supposedly.

But wouldn't that mean you are who you are based on color?

So if you look black but don't...whatever the stereotypes are...have 25 baby mamas and drive a...

Ok...so..I really don't know all the stereotypes.

What i'm trying to say is just because you are a certain race you have to do what is expected of that race? I can't really get it all out right.

So if im white..does that mean I can never drive a toyota (japanese) or listen to tango music (mexican) and never, ever under any circumstances am I to eat fish and poi (hawaiian)?

That kind of thinking makes no sense. I am not defined by the color of my skin. I realize that others may do that..but I don't do that.

I don't know how to really put it so that it makes any sense.

And thank you for the explaination.
I happen to like original oreos much better.

You don't have to worry about being defined by race, you're white. When you're part of the majority you're just seen as a person with no responsibility to people who look like you.
For example the recent school shooting along with mall shooting in Oregon and even the movie theater shooting in Colorado were all done by white guys in their 20s yet there is no casual link between race even though the overwhelming majority of spree killers are these young white males. When they look at things like robberies or gang shootings there's always a discussion about everything that's wrong with the black community attaching race to behavior. So one of the major perks of being white amongst many others is the freedom to be an individual. Congratulations my friend lol

LOL, many of us could attest to that as well.

Its like being authentically black means you should walk, talk, act a certain way and if you deviate from that its somehow not black.

Mind you this is generally a black phenomenon and mindset in American society.

No I can't play basketball, I'm pathetic at it actually, I don't like watermelons, but I will admit I do love me some fried chicken, yumm. :smt043:smt043:smt043

Ok...fair enough. But please keep in mind that just because I was born with Caucasian skin color (that I asked for, thanks) does not mean I automatically get the "perks" that come with being "born white". I am a female, remember? That's an entirely different conversation. The trifecta is: white, straight, male. I only qualify with one of those and so am not allowed into "that" club.

And being born white certainly does not equate to me agreeing with these perks you speak of.
And I'm sure a lot of other white people would agree.

And you love WHITE WOMEN which is something I think most black dudes actually do as well but don't feel confident enough to approach one or hung up on what others might think.
You know how many times people ask me on the low "how do you get a white chick fam? Where do you finding them"
Shit always cracks me up. "The same places where you see them fool. The library, Indie concerts, pool halls, ski trips"... wait a minute never mid lol

You're not straight? Then are you here for the ww? LOL
I think most white people don't think about the perks because unless it negatively affects your life why would you think about it. Just like I doubt any of us (unless they immigrant backgrounds) think much about how lucky we are to be American in comparison to most of the world.
Most of take our "perks" for grantite whether we asked for them or not. So I don't really hold it against anyone I just don't like when people try to make it sound like its some made up shit in my head, like they can't see what's going out in the world

Oh, I'm not saying its made up in your head dear.
White people are the most obnoxious, entitled, sanctimonious sumsabitches out there. And we have a whole blood stained history to prove it! Yay! Plus we have white bread, white sugar, the white album by the Beatles. The list goes on and on and on...for like, millennia and shit.

However, it's not 34AD or 1424AD. Fuck if it isn't almost not 2012 anymore.
    So....yeah.

And I go to a different website for the WW. And the Japanese women.
    *thud*

That is a very fair and critical point you raise, if the perpetrators of those incidents were young black males it would have most likely indeed taken on a component of analysis and extensive examination of the black community and violence.

However in the analysis of these shootings I saw no one asking why are young white males engaging in these behaviors. When you are a part of the majority society it doesn't become part of the discourse.

I wish black and hispanic news cast would bring it up. All these damn middle class, nothing to worry about, white guys losing their shit and killing large masses of people. Why? Because the prom queen wouldn't jerk them off in hs? Its always some lame bullshit like that. "Oh he never fit in, he was an outsider"
Plenty of bm (as seen by this site alone) don't fit in and ironically are the ones who rarely if ever get involved in any criminal activity let alone mass murder.

That part always gets me, he didn't fit in, was an outsider, what does that even mean.

He wasn't drinking, smoking, with the popular kids, get invited to the cool parties, getting pussy from the cheerleader so he lashed out and killed.

in a journal article called "recruitment and retention of african american males in high school mathematics" says (in one part of the article) that black males stay away from academic challenging classes because they will be perceived as uncool and not manly.
