WOW, you really think things change for no reason. Or people quick getting beat because a perpetrator is simply tired of whooping their asses. Anyway...the fact that you can be so far removed from reality (or the darkside of human nature) only serves to exemplify how great this country really is. No need to change it by taking away our rights.

There are specific examples all over the net, but if someone want to get that specific about their personal business on this forum, just so you can continue to think the same, more power to them.

I'll put you down for Don Quixote reactionary and mark you down in the column for "thinking" you need a gun and nucs to survive, but can't give specific examples. And thanks for the neg rep. My first ever here. :p

I'm willing to listen to real stories of why people need guns to make it in life. I could preapare for any number of scary things by knee jerk reacting but I don't want to go through like looking like this.........as you do:

I suppose at that time he did, but the thug with the gun got his only a few days later, probably from the same person he was chasing at the time.

Isn't it kind of telling that the U.S. has to be compared with the likes of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Jamaica, Sierra Leone when it comes to homicide rates from gun violence.

Shouldn't ideally the U.S. be compared with other Western nations like the U.K, France, Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, Australia.

I mean this is after all the richest nation on Earth yet we would compare them with developing world nations that have serious social issues.

That kind of makes one wonder why is the U.S. being compared with those nations when it comes to the level of gun violence and not other developed nations. Food for thought.

Want your response on that one love. :D

Whatever our views may be about gun possession I think we should be able to respect the views of others and their perspective.

Even if one may vehemently disagree with it.

To be fair the countries you mentioned outside of France don't have the same history as the US as well as the same issue with illegal immigration which brings in a lions share of the criminality with it.
We had slavery, which I know you're well versed on being a history major, which lead us to a point where the US has a much larger population who isn't considered part of the mainstream which leads to all kinds of inequalities that puts a certain demographic in a position to be chronically poor which translates to crime and violence in any country. There's a very real correlation between high unemployment and crime as you can see with third world countries that were mentioned. Then you have a competing influx of illegal immigrants coming into the country to compete for illegal markets which create a shit ton of violence. Switzerland doesn't have that problem, Australia certainly doesn't, neither do most of the Western countries. If Canada were directly bordering Mexico like we were and had a history of enslaving and treating their black population the way we do here you'd see a sharp uptick in violence. The US is the first of its kind in world history as far as nations go.

Lolz...think you've been out of your homeland for too long blissimo. When was the last time you spoke to an Australian about our gun laws and how we feel safe? Would you prefer that we all carry guns to protect ourselves and pull them out when threatened?

I'm sure you would not be comfortable having your mum, dad and the rest of your family carrying a gun over here, just because the police do. We don't need to.

Come back home honey so you can remember what it's like to feel the freedom and safety to not need to arm yourself for protection :smt058
