    It did, but it didn't:

While that's the lowest unemployment rate since December 2008, it fell due mainly to workers dropping out of the labor force.

    Oh, and this:

Of the job gains in November, more than a third, or 52,600, came from retailers, but much of that was likely due to holiday hiring.

When in U.S. history has the unemployemnt rate not gone due to some not looking?

Of course those people exist, but to state that the unemployment rate is the lowest it's been in 4 years without looking at the specifics of why is not a good perspective to have.

We have to look at the big picture to see where we really are in terms of the economy. :smt023

I'm just saying one could say that about the Clinton era rates and still be valid. You can choose to look at a portion of a big picture. Don't forget the big picture isn't simply why the unemployment rate is where it is now but why did we end up with this disaster that brought us such bad rates which remains to be uncorrected to this very day.

At some point conservatives are going to have to realize the main driver in the drop in the unemployment rate ISN'T because people have stopped looking for jobs.

That never was the primary reason for the drop in unemployment anyway.
It was a factor, but a minor one. Yet the GOP keeps saying everytime the rate drops, 'it's because people quit looking for jobs!'lol:smt021

The fact that retailers NEED holiday workers says something. They may be temp jobs but many times they turn into permanent. Amazon added tons and said a lot they would keep. So it is a sign of something. If retailers needed no one because people didn't have the confidence to spend money on gifts, that would be a bad thing.

    Basically this.

In fact, depending on whether the automatic tax cuts kick in or not if Congress doesn't act, we could see a lot of people become perma-employed to the retailers and other businesses once the holiday season is over. Sure, the employment rate may kick up by 0.1%, but it's only marginal when dealing with this expected season.

But then again, with these numbers, there has been a stronger confidence level with the public, so let us all live in hope.
