true u learn not to insult or belittle other opinions in the quest for a communal dialogue between people that's why sometimes i just dip out of conversations when i see the shit get schoolyard nothing is learned or forged when you start defeating thought-out arguments with knee-jerk cynical terms
That is a cop-out. But, one that many seem to like to use. I found the same women posting in the "women suffering in muslim countries" thread. I saw the same post in various interracial threads about women they hate and or love. And each time feminism is their watchword. Yet, I just find it interested that they are somehow not present in this thread. But then again... http://dearwhitefeminists.wordpress.com/ Spend anytime googling feminism and race and you will find that there are plenty of minority women who aren't particularly happy with it. The sad part is that I see people pushing the "we suffer" comments even when the subject has nothing to do with them (for instance look at the thread about women suffering in Islamic countries), yet when there is a thread proving that they have it easier than most they remain silent. Like when a wage gap comment about white privilege vs. male privilege was made. When it was shown that their assumptions were wrong they remain silent. The truth is, at least in America, race trumps gender issues. Granted someone will then say, "this isn't the suffering Olympics", meanwhile pointing out how they feel they suffer (Ironic, don't you think?).
looks like we got a winner in this poster but hey like goodlove said, its not what you know..its what you can prove and that stat proved that at least wage-wise, ww still trumped bm:smt043 so yeah the men/female angle was blown right out the water mothafucka..ya still white:shock:
The likes of Huntress cant imagine that on anyone can suffer more. Might I remind you of the Joe Pa thread
Hmm With discrimination based on resumes, it happens all the time, a Stanford study has proved that. Hell it happens to me all the time, I'm just happy my parents didn't name me DeShaun or something. I remember one time I applied for a Linux technician job at Google a while back, and didn't even get a reply. I was working with an Asian guy who had learning disabilities, who didn't even have a decorated resume at all, but because of his Chinese last name, that fool got an interview and he knew nothing of Linux. I thought it was kind of funny honestly.
its not even about speed mofos discriminate just because they cant stand your race of people 30 years of age in 2012 and i still get the occasional weird look or stare like mofos never seen a bm before
http://www.healthleadersmedia.com/page-1/NRS-285962/Narrowing-Racial-Disparities-in-Nursing i remember getting an email about this at work some people at Penn conducted a study like this recently, and I think this is the one they are referring to smh people official study link... http://www.nursing.upenn.edu/sia/Pa...among-Black-Patients-over-White-Patients.aspx
Yes, not being black doesn't help one to truly understand. I think that has been said by most women on here. I think most of us know that what was put in that hater site article to be true, we still cant fully comprehend it, except intellectually. And that is probably why you see a lack of responses by wwomen. There is one thing in that article I call foul on though.. the mentioning of her white friend who went for an interview for a clerical job but was offered an executive management position instead for nearly 6 figures straight out of college. Yeah, uhm, no. The rest is something I know to be true. Unfortunately, most white people (not on wwbm) don't even understand the existence of white privilege.
This study supports something I've also suspected about the justice system country in this country. The reason why a white kid gets in trouble and is given probation and why a black kid damn near always goes through the system. Its because a lot of people have a really tough time seeing themselves in other races. I remember that happened to a friend of mine a couple of years ago. Really cute 28 year old blonde girl with blue eyes. Shorty was driving home drunk as fuck and got pulled over by the cops at a toll booth. The cops actually took pity on her and told her to call a friend to pick her up and have drive her car home for her. I get there to pick her up and the cops were so fricking nice about everything, the dude in charge told me he reminded her of his daughter and didn't want to see her lose her social work license over one mistake. Dude I was fucking floored. Two years later I can't believe it and I was there. You and I would NEVER get a break like that. But the person in charge saw this young ww and saw his daughter and cut her break. People see us and we're guilty despite circumstance as well as disposable when it comes to care. Another black person dead will barely raise an eye brow and that shit is real as it gets.
Interesting insight FG. But I find it interesting that with so many of you having been with black men in long term relationships you might be more well informed on these kind of things and therefore would have an opinion on it. My current gf is so incredibly educated on these topics. She's constantly opening my mind to shit like this. I always joke with her and say she should work for the NAACP because I've yet to meet anyone in my life as well informed on the issues facing black men and women as much as she is. I use to think there's no way you can relate but she's really taught me if you care enough to really educate yourself you can. Much like I'm doing with women. Currently I'm reading a lot of literature about women from the third world.
interestingly enough, Penn did another high-profile research study on judicial discrimination. i posted that in another thread, but basically it helped to prove what we already know to be true....... they send out emails to us everyday about new happenings and whatever, and sometimes they include studies like these and i post them here. best way to combat racism and discrimination is through education. i make sure everyone within my sphere of influence reads up on them, especially minorities for self-awareness.
My issue isn't with the "Women on here not posting". My issue is with a few members that seem to like to hop in whenever anything negative remotely involves a woman. There are only two or three that fit this description in my experience. But, everyone's experience is different. As far as the rest of the women not posting in an issue about race in a forum titled WWBM, that's kind of sad. But, to each their own I guess.
Dude the ring is designed already. We are moving in together at the beginning of the year. Shes just trying to get her credit up right now
Congratulations. I might be in the same boat soon. I can assume you will still venture through the forum. I, personally, will disappear (relationships are more fun than internet banter, so I cut my online presence).
Well we work opposite schedules which is why I'm on here so much. Whenever she's over she loathes that I'm on here. She actually hates the term interracial since it makes things sound more like inter species. So once I'm with her on a more full time basis I'm sure my posting will be reduced as well. I try not to put too much thought into it. One day at a time.
Good stuff Black Man. I am preparing to pop the question. So, I began to cut off contact with female friends and so on. That's just how I do it. But, everyone is different and whatever works for you my friend. I hope it works out for you.
