The best time to look for a job is when you already have one. You don't have anything to lose.

They originally told us it would be up to 10mths, but then that was changed to 12mths. But, I've heard from people who've gone through this, that it can take up to 15-18mths.

I can't afford a lawyer and I've already contacted them. They just said, everything's moving along and they'd contact me when there were any updates. That was about 4mths ago, though. :( We really are wracking our brains to come up with something I can do to make a living over there, so I can just go and live in Kenya with him. It's taking far too long.

2 years now. But I don't like to think about it. Everytime I think about it, I want to cry. Honestly, I just want to be able to afford to hop on a plane and go back to him. Fuck the whole visa thing. I'd rather just be over in Kenya with him. I want him to meet my family and get his Aussie citizenship, but I'd rather just go back to be with him and live in the house we own, on the land we own...and be happy. Pity money is a factor.
I did wonder if I could scrape a living taking portraits for the locals...for passports, family pictures etc. Not sure I'd make much though.

What about teaching the locals English..or Art classes.

Trust me when I say that they wouldn't pay for art classes. They wouldn't even be curious about art classes. As for teaching english over there. I've thought about that, but I have no idea how to do that and so can't just turn up and start teaching. I'd have to do a course and go through and organisation. No guarantee of work, or (most importantly) getting paid (most of the work is voluntary).
