I hear you on that, priorities in life indeed. LOL, mentioning people talking about the freshest gear, I remember kids laughing at me because I was wearing Payless sneakers to school, instead of Nike or Jordans when I was in Junior High. They would literally point at my feet and laugh in the hallway. I mean I didn't see the big deal about it, it was a pair of sneakers, I was more concerned about my grades, but then yet again I wasn't from a place where brand names mattered one bit. You wore what you had and other things took priority in life. :smt043:smt043:smt043 Cats have to start walking around with buttons and shit saying "I refuse to be another statistic"
honestly..my mom always told me don't be another statistic mom dukes aint sayin nothin wrong at all.. this shit is reality, fuck all the bullshit
Word up to that indeed. No glory in being tagged and bagged from hood violence. Shit ain't cute at all.
My brother was like that when he got here. He used to make his own pants because in Jamaica men needed to know how to make and mend their own clothing. People couldn't afford name brand shit all the time. All those clowns that were laughing are lucky to get a damn job at the supermarket these days. Just plain frickin sad.
So I take exception to someone spewing left-wing lies about how the Republican party was founded and now you think I'm completely oblivious to racism? You're fucking smoking some serious shit there, homie. And if I smoked, I'd ask you for some.
I met Michael Steele once and actually found him to be a pretty nice guy. That being said, black people don't vote for Democrats out of some sort of groupthink. They vote for Democrats because - in general - Democrats support policies that provide opportunities, infrastructure and needed support to the working poor, which is still where the largest share of the black population is situated. From there, the community develops a general party affiliation. Blacks used to support Republicans when they championed some of these same policies, albeit with a more market-oriented focus, especially entrepreneurship. My great-grandmother was a Republican for much of her early life, but voted Democrat by the end of her life because of the broader shift of a 'certain segment' of the electorate toward the R column. She didn't think people should rely on handouts, but she was clear about whether or not someone was motivated by racial animus and was a staunch opponent of racism throughout her life. I think that is why many people don't feel comfortable voting Republican. Is every single Republican racist? No. Is racism a strong animus for many of the party's supporters? Yes. It's inevitable in a two-party system that they will end up in one of the two parties.
damn, How could I miss this thread? lol tdk has a point though. There are more racist in the GOP then the democrat party. Chanes are you won't support a party that supports black people.
That is one of the most respectable things about african americans(ethnically). They vote on who is on their side and don't forget who isn't!
I think that is the fundamental problem right there, a status quo two party system that says vote for either/or when both are not worthy of the time frankly. Its like take your pick shit or more shit. I mean if we really think about it deeply bro, a lot of the poor black neighborhoods are Democratic and yet they remain poor after all this time, why is that the case if this is the party blacks keep voting for and the results are the same in their communities, cycle of violence, poverty, lack of employment, lower educational standards, etc. What are they really voting for in the end. Makes one stop and think about the end result when all is said and done. The reality becomes clear that this is merely the only other option blacks are left with in a two party system of one or the other as choices.
They are voting for opportunities which is available in spades. You expect the government wipe noses and change diapers too? There has to be reasonable effort from vlack people too and not this fuck the establishment attitude
I'm not buying it because after generations one would expect to see better results not the same cycle of social results that still reflect poorly in areas of education, employment, living standards, etc. You should know me well by now and my take on personal responsibility, so as far as the government wiping noses and changing diapers, never that dude. I mentioned how Obama has spent more time speaking on illegal immigration and enacting policies to try and help some of them, while completely ignoring the black vote, as an I got this in the bag mentality. Are we not even worthy of a token effort to speak to Southern blacks to try and make some of the races down their close. Cmon bro, the black vote is being taken for granted, you know that, because it is assumed automatically Democratic and therefore no effort has to be expended on addressing issues around blacks. That is my gripe, the irrelevancy of the black vote to Democrats that has crept into the equation. It will only get worse in the years to come with the continual rise of the Hispanic population and voting block that has already surpassed blacks statistically.
Dude as long as they try to maintain some sort of equal opportunity then its all good to me. The harsh and undeniable reality is if he even mentioned black people in his campaigning it would lose him the white vote which he needs to be president. Racism and fear reign supreme in this country there's no getting around it. Dude during his first campaign do you have any clue how many educated white people were in fear that they would lose rights to black people. It sounds absolutely absurd but that was a palpable fear for a lot of them. That's the position a black person in power faces. Everything done for "your group" can be seen as an act of aggression towards white people or at least that's how it will be seen from the perspective of the electorate. And I agree that as hispanics grow in numbers blacks won't even be a part of the conversation for certain things but neither are Indians or Asians or Native Americans and other minority groups. We need to fall back on community and working hard in order to make things happen for ourselves. The only benefit of voting Dem is they support social programs blacks can benefit from. Will there be legislation geared towards the betterment of blacks? Probably not but quite honestly we don't need it. There are so many things we as Americans waste in general. We need discipline and fortitude. All the other tools exist. This is the fricking information age. Complaining about outdated textbooks is well... outdated. You say education is a problem. Is it because they lack good schools or more because they lack discipline and motivation? Like I said before shit WILL NOT get better until babies STOP having babies. Its the root of most problems as far as it comes to minorities blacks in particular. You want to excel? Find a library sit your ass down and fucking study. The library is completely free and abundant as hell. Learn trades and useful skills instead memorizing every line to your favorite songs while you practice jump shots fantasizing about chicks from videos. I realize most young people in this country lack motivation but that bullshit has to end right this second. There is no more room for error. We compete globally and no one has the time to hold anyone's hand. Only thing I would want government to do is increase police presence at schools and stop giving these damn kids so much power. Its hindering them its not helping.
:smt043:smt043:smt043 Won't get any arguments from me on that front. I know Obama is playing the political game, which explains why he would show up in Ohio numerous times and not Michigan in regards to Detroit and the economy there. What troubles me is blacks are becoming akin to the California, New York, Texas of politics, in that politicians don't have to compete for these places because their vote for one party or the other is assumed from the jump. The difference with the Asian population is they are doing better than blacks socio-economically wise and the other group that is in a similar position to blacks, Hispanics have surpassed our numbers so it raises some interesting questions in the future in the political arena in this nation.
Asians usually do better becaise they work harder as a group. No special tricks. They put in the work and reap the rewards. No one is blocking access to education, to new and better ideas, and more self control other than low IQ behavior. NO MORE EXCUSES.
So the ENTIRE GOP is racist? Do you personally know every single person who votes GOP and have you determined that every single one is a racist? And are you implying what I think you're implying? And what is that supposed to mean? I'll ask you the same thing I just asked TDK. Are you implying what I think you're implying? Let's set the record straight. Just come right out and say it. Why beat around the bush?
