I appreciate your words, Libra. Every time I go back to the scene or even think about seeing my brother on the stretcher, lifeless and silent...it's hurting me tremendously. The pain just keeps coming back.

It'll take a long time for it to fully come to terms with this memory. All I can do is live on for his sake.

Went on a date with an African man last night... we went to see the movie "Flight" with Denzel Washington and stayed up til 7am talking....

    Interesting.

Hurricane Sandy nearly killed me. 6 days with no power, trying to keep my house warm for my 4 birds, while neighbors 5 feet away had power...gas lines 3 hours long, no food in the stores, it's horrible.
Plus side, went on date 2 with a BM last night and watched sports center in his arms til 3 am while talking.

Wow I feel so bad for you... lucky you that you had the date to keep your mind off things, poor dear. Hope your birds are okay and things get back to normal quickly.

I stayed up til 7am with my date watching a cheezy moving from Ghana and drinking sugary tea that gave me indigestion and doing martial arts moves but I had a good time. I HAD power and heat at home so all I really wanted to do was go sleep in my cozy bed, but I did enjoy his company too...

    Hope yours goes somewhere!

I feel awful for all you guys suffering the effects of Sandy. I hope things return to normality soon. Thinking of you all. I'm glad you're all safe and alive!

Nice to see you two girls had nice dates. Glad you both had a good time! Is there going to be a 2nd date on the cards ladies?

I feel guilty for being so comfortable here in Kentucky while everybody up there is struggling :(... Thank God hopefully the response is much better than in Katrina...

I definitely want to keep this guy as a friend - he is very sweet, gentlemanly, older than me, laid back, responsible, etc... the only problem is that he is sooooo skinny (verrrrry "typical" African in build I guess you could say, if there is a typical - 6'2" and 150 lbs with a small head - something I am not used to). He is very intelligent - speaks 7 languages and was top in his country for martial arts - very strong too - he picked me up - all 180 lbs of me!! with no problem (he was showing off) - he is extremely tough. Just sooo Muslim and sooo Arabic in his mannerisms (he is from Mauritania) - I am not used to that. He seems smitten with me and tried to kiss me (a shock) while he was massaging my temples and my eyes were shut - I was taken by surprise and turned him away because I am not attracted to him, but I did like to be NEAR him or hugged by him, just not advanced on by him sexually. He seemed at the same time gentlemanly AND aggressive. He wanted me to stay and stay and stay, and then wanted me to sleep in the same bed and I said no....Yikes - not sure what to do. He is super African. He has a huge family back home and he is the only one who speaks English. He has lived here for 10 years and even had another white wife for awhile... very strange. He has no kids and is 42!!:smt107

Mmm I just made an amazing Babaganoush <3 not bad for the first time. Oh, I also baked pancakes for the first time today. I guess today is first-time-but-tasty-things day :)

Glad you guys are safe, wish I could have you for dinner since food is still a bit hard to find over there.
