In news to make nerds happy: New Star Wars in 2015! http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2012/10/30/disney-star-wars-lucasfilm/1669739/
I'm not sure how I feel about a new Star Wars movie. Between the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy and the countless novels and comics it seems like every story that there is to tell has already been told.
WOW!!! I really do hope that the new Star Wars trilogy (7,8,9) is just as good as the original trilogy (4,5,6...which I LOVE!) I mean come on, it's following it up, right?
Hopefully these won't be nearly as boring as the last three released. Disney's writers are usually right on the money so this could be a very good thing.
Or it could be as bad as the prequel trilogy. Episodes 2 and 3 weren't entirely horrible but they weren't as good as 4, 6, and 6. The less said about Episode 1, the better. As long as George Lucas doesn't have too much involvement with the new movies they shouldn't be too bad.
George Lucas will not be directing or writing or anything like that he is just going to be a creative consultant, or that's what from what I've been hearing on YouTube and IGN. Everything is not certain just yet--we might have to wait for the coming weeks or months to find out more information. Hopefully this sequel trilogy will be better than the prequels. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
I'm keeping mine crossed too. He can share his ideas as long as he stays the fuck away from the script.
It seems Disney is continuing their venture as an entertainment museum. While I like Star Wars, I like Disney even more and this makes me want to now go purchase a DVD set of Stars Wars in anticipation for the upcoming movies, just because Disney is housing them. Mickey Mouse is the big dog on the block and he is to be feared! lol Anyway, looking forward to some new Star Wars movies! artyman:
I know their is a ton of material (books, comics, video-games, etc.) that take place after Return Of The Jedi, but I really want fresh material. Dream directors James Cameron, Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan, or JJ Abrams. As long as they don't let Kevin Smith, Brett Ratner or Michael Bay anywhere near this movie, I'm good.
Looking forward to the tales of Luke rebuilding the Jedi, the Yuzhan Vong and with any luck, my favorite of the entire series, Cade Skywalker. And I sincerely hope that Disney don't "cuten" (I know it's not a word, lol) it up for kiddies to the point of making it unwatchable.
Did you really like the Yuzhan Vong Storyline? because I really didn't like it. It didn't "feel" like Star Wars at all.
I confess to having not read the books, just read the comics storylines that featured them. It did feel more like Star Trek than Star Wars, but I was glad to see someone that was a real test for the Jedi. My favorite storyline of all continues to be the Cade Skywalker period.
If you ever want to read any of the books I suggest reading the Thrawn Trilogy, it is the best of the bunch and the Yuzon Vong is easily the worst, IMHO.
