I'm not suggesting revenge on the whites, just saying I'm more suspicious of white men. More suspicious that they will rape me, more suspicious that they will kidnap and molest my nephews, more suspicious that they will steal from me, kidnap me, commit some sort of white-collar crime against me or forge my identity and pin something on me, gossip about me, try to screw me out of something some way or other. And if they know I date black men, a thousand times MORE so.

Unless they are gay - then they might just gossip about me. LOL... I have never known a gay man to be racist, but there's a first time for everything.:smt081

 

Not surprised in the least, but it doesn't change my views one bit. People are going to do what they want to do. And so will I.

Its research, its just a study, and its not absolute. I've read into it a little bit, but I've actually used this program before. It flashes a picture of a person of a certain race, and then asks you to select a word that describes how you feel about the image (this all happens very fast). I know that psych grad students, and professors are all gung ho on this type of testing procedure. Though I find it, personally, very stupid. It becomes so obvious what the tests are trying to insinuate, its laughable- and boring. Its really hard to get valuable data from procedures like this, and things like poling because people are very self aware- they love to skew results according to how they want the results to be perceived as. The problem with internet articles is that people cite these studies, and only take out what they want. They never take into the consideration that the study might be flawed, or that the study is an incremental variance in understanding a phenomena. Not a tried and true method, but an experiment in seeing what could work.

I'm kind of saying this out of personal experience, I actually work for a research group at a national laboratory- have a few publications with my name on it. You really can't put all your faith in studies, to be frank a lot of what gets published isn't really that special.

 

That is an american/western perspective. I can bring you to black people, you would shiver with fear, just when they look at you. It comes all down to personal experiences, neither the white, nor the black race is more predestinated for criminal or abusive activities

I can show you White cats who would make you 'shiver with fear' from a glance too.
That's more about the person and their entire vibe and less about race.
You should catch of few episodes of Lockup Raw. There are more scary white people than you know out here.

 

I don't know, what you think you "smell" now or what you want to ascribe to me.. Black people are not "victims" only. The skin color is not a garantee for correct minds. If you think that, wake up and go on travel

 

You don't have to tell me that. I'm well aware but it goes without saying especially since most of the posts in this thread speaks to the ingrained fear people have of blacks to begin with so telling me there are black people who make you shiver is kind of "well no frickin duh" moment.

Although I absolutely loathe SA her point was valid in the sense that certain crimes are more likely to be committed by white men but they aren't viewed as a threat the same way black men are. As previously stated by many in many threads car doors tend to lock as we walk by them. Women start to clutch their purse or people may cross the street when they see you walking towards them based on the actions of a few. The same fear isn't appropriated to white men based on crimes that are mostly committed by them

In Africa you find serial murderers,rapist, too. Just that they are not accused or followed by police, at least in several countries.
But I am not talking about it, to talk bad about Africa, it's just to make clear that a special predestination for a certain race isn't existing

 

I understand what your saying but remember the context of the thread. Its about bm in America not black men in general but I do see where you're coming from.
Crimes don't have a racial designation there have even been serial killers here in the US that were black. The point I and others were making is that even though few commit crimes we are ALL too often seen as criminals. See where I'm coming from?

Me personally I don't even get into the how many other races of people do X,Y,Z as well perspective, because people who critique blacks as a whole know these things, but they just choose to ignore it.

I know that a white person who is speaking about blacks in terms of a social group as hippity hop, violent, drugs and gangs, thugs. don't really have any interest in seeing blacks in a positive light, so I can't even take such folks seriously, they have a biased agenda.

A black person could be highly educated, successful, hard working and such folks would still apply a label because they have a conclusion they would like to reach.

This is why earlier I mentioned only blacks having a social commitment to betterment in education and sound values about life can improve these matters. Other groups could care less, they will just keep applying the stereotypes and labels, because they want to.

I think we have to be very careful about this mindset though SA, when we see serial killers and pedophiles, etc, what we are seeing is individuals who are violent and psychopathic irrespective of culture. Some people are just wired without a moral compass and conscience.

There were whites who fought against slavery, numerous abolitionists, John Brown gave his life for it.

Chattel slavery was first and foremost about economic exploitation to its core and once you have corroded your self to engage in that for profit, it requires social policies that led to what we saw throughout slavery in the New World.

If the Indians could have survived they would have been utilized as slave labor, but they died out from diseases and couldn't be used for that purpose, thus Africa entered the picture.

Many banking, insurance, shipping companies today trace their history back to taking part in the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade.

The question is, whether you were sitting at any time in your life vis-a-vis 8-10 people you know that they killed around 200 people, raped and murdered dozens of women. People that are accused in Den Haag for violence against humanity. And you are alone- in their country, not in Europe or USA, where you can rely, at least a little bit on police or court..

It is not a challenge, not a competition, who is more abusive or more criminal.
