I didn't paint the entire party like that. Blame those who influence the elections. We're a centre-right nation after all, so it's intuitive that the slim majority would favor conservative ideology, though there has been a significant shift in certain areas. (I'll create a thread on that later on)

The far-right has been collecting more power in the GOP for some time. Sure, you have your far-left liberals, but they don't really have a strong voice whatsoever in politics nor in other venues. It would take a leftist version of Buckley to really see a leftist shift in all things ideological.

But as it stands now, whoever holds influence, they have greater weight on the outcome of the nation.

As for moderate voices? They pretty much are intermingled within the Democratic party and even the Libertarian party...

It gets back to center eventually, and I think we'll be starting to see a shift in this election.

Outside of movies I can't respect your opinion on anything. You are quite possible the most uninformed intelligent person I have ever come across in my entire life. My God have mercy on your soul.

I've always wondered what they were trying to conserve too.. Is it just a misnomer?

    Oh, hai..I'm a conservative..
A conservative of what exactly? What is it you are supposedly conserving? Pray tell me please?

Then mittens rmoney busted on the scene and all of that was suddenly answered.

He's conserving his OWN agenda and his OWN wealth. At the expense of many people.

I'm still left scratching my head because while you may define yourself as a conservative..the Conservative party is not interested in conserving anything that even remotely relates to you.

With the current crop of officials who don't believe in compromise, that's a stretch to say the least.

You actually know nothing about how well-informed I am. But I appreciate the insult all the same. Is that all you can do is insult people?

I have chosen not to engage in heated debates on here for many reasons the biggest being I'm a mod. That being said: I share very little of my political views in here because I frankly don't have the time to write and read the novels people post in here and in the end it doesn't matter anyway as people believe what they're going to believe.

You assert your political beliefs often. Every time you choose to criticize Obama and stick up for Republicans you make your position well known. Especially when you said jobs won't hire because of legislation that's two years away from being enacted. That shows a lot of misinformation my friend, but go back to moding we appreciate it:smt023:smt023:smt023

I think it's worth asking how rape is gods will but homosexuality is a choice?
This was a tweet from a guy in New York..and really, it highlights the sharp divide between whatever the fuck is wrong with the right as a whole. You never ever hear sane things coming from them. You just hear shit like..you were raped and conceived? God is great and you have been blessed.

Your gay? God hates you and you should be put to death.

How anyone could vote for such asinine beliefs is so far beyond me I can't even. I cannot.

Science is bad but let's give every woman a transvaginal ultrasound before 2 months..

And that is exactly the problem with the modern-day GOP. The sane voices (if there are actually any left) are drowned out by birthers, tenthers, death panelers, and tea partiers. Longtime Republican Senators and Representatives are retiring because the party has gone so far off the deep end. Two years ago, Republicans lost the chance to regain the Senate because instead of running moderate candidates who would appeal to a larger portion of the electorate, they chose instead to run Sharron Angle and Christine O'Donnell.

If there are moderate Republicans then they may want to step up and make their voices heard because all you can hear these days are the wingnuts.

Where are the moderate Republicans? If they claim the crazy, far, far right are in the minority how come these crazy minority are always hogging the headlines? How come the majority, moderate Republicans are eerily quiet and never come out and debunk what the far, far right are saying? People should give us a break with lame excuses.

And to the surprise of no one, he lost his election. And no, it wasn't even close. Maybe now the GOP will kick the nutjobs out of their party.

Sadly, I don't think there are that many sane ones anymore. Many have either turned Democrat, died due to old age (especially the New England variety, who are getting on in age), or become Libertarians. This is the by-product of all the ideological orthodoxy driven by the primary process.

That is true those Rockefeller Republicans are all gone and not coming back. There are house slaves who still stay with that party. They will never go anywhere.
