Do You Have a Dark Side?

A friend of mine asked me what my dark side was like. He thinks everyone has a dark side, not necessarily evil, but dark or hidden. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what mine could be.

So, help me out. Do you guys think you have a dark side and if so what is it. I want to see what everyone elses definition is and see if maybe I am just stumped because I am not defining it correctly.

 

I'm not sure that everyone has a "dark side", but I definitely think we all have "darker side". How to define it is near impossible as it depends on the individuals general character and disposition.

Personally I would say that I definitely have a dark side, in fact my partner often calls me a witch! Apart from my sexuality, which can often sink to the depth of darkness, I also have a bad temper, which although not often apparent, when I blow I BLOW. Also I can be very cunning, calculated and cold when I need or want to be. I'm not a frosty person, in fact I'm very warm and loving. But when I feel the need, I can completely cut off my emotional side and be as cold as a polar bear's toe nails.

 

I think that people are bad first, and good second fly girl. For me, it's always been much easier to do wrong. Trying to follow the rules, now that's what's hard. That takes real effort i tell ya.

i have a really bad temper if thats what ur talkin about..... some people won't think it by the way i act.... but usually, if someone pisses me off.... i can hold back so little.... then i just explode....

Everyone has their skeletons in the closet or what is known as 'personal demons' that they struggle with it, but that all comes with only being human.

 

I agree. There are definitely things about myself that I need to work on. Having a "dark side" doesn't make you utterly evil, as long as you are aware of your potential to be evil = human. I would be skeptical of a person who claimed they were without fault.

 

Ill admit that I have a dark side of me that tends not to care about anyone but myself.

 

I just finished a book called, Without Conscience written by a famous psychologist. He said up to 1/25 or 4 percent of people are functioning psychopaths (noncriminal) and that they are incapable of feeling anything for anyone but themselves. Just downloaded The Sociopath Next Door which has a similar theme.

 

For the most part, nothing posted would be considered a dark side by me. To me a dark side would be more like someone who likes to pinch babies when their mothers arent looking because they enjoy hearing them cry.

 

A little over the top there, don't cha think? :shock:

 

I don't need a dark side. As soon as I find something in me that's unpleasant/undesirable, I weed it out. I want to be a better person.

PS: And if by dark side you mean secret life, that's another thing - which is not to say I have one.

 

That's very responsible of you. But near impossible. We are what we are. We can self improve, but we can't change the foundations that make us who and what we are.

 

I definately have a darker side. But I do a good job at keeping it hidden. And I have no intention to rid myself of it, atleast just not yet.

 

To add to the above, I believe that (some) people bandy about the whole "dark side" thing just to appear appear deep and or enigmatic, while in others their dark side is nothing other than a bad habbit or habbits.

 

The dark side of you keeps your head above water in some instances.. Its necessary to have one.

 

You mean the Dark Side of the Force? Sure. We all possess the Force. You can use it for good or for evil. Obi Wan Kenobi taught Luke that in Star Wars. LOL...ok in all seriousness...

My dark side (which i consider to be my temper or really dirty horny nasty thoughts) only comes out when a girl im really really into hurts me or rejects me in some way. Other than that, im pretty good at keeping my cool in most situations.

And I don't see anything bad about going to get old threads... new members might have not seen them, so......
