I agree, some of these names are nice...it might interest you to know that about 1/3 of these kiddos are white. In this day & age it seems many parents want unique names.

If I had a son I would name him something Biblical, noble, or something he could grow into with pride, maybe even something slightly unorthodox so nobody could pigeonhole him. Same thing with a daughter.

I knew a girl with a biracial son who named him Justice - perfect name, I thought. You can grow up with a name like that and be proud of it. Perfect for a black or biracial boy or girl, too. I also met a black woman named Liberty once - she was as magnificent as her name. I knew a group of 3 sisters (black) named Love, Joy, and Faith. To me, character traits are classic and everlasting - you can never go wrong. Also personally I think Mahogany is the coolest name ever for a black woman :smt033

Personally NOT fond of the previous list of trendy fake ethnic sounding names names. If I were going to name my child something African sounding I would have to research it a great deal, find out its meaning, and find the name which sounded the least awkward to the American ear. Such as my other friend's parents did - she is bi/multiracial, and her name is Ayannah, which I believe means "beautiful" in an African language. NOT something with "swag" - something classic and that will, AGAIN, stand the test of time.

I used to babysit a little girl named L-ea..her mom pronounced it LeDashea..I blame the weird names on parents being really young, that weird names are in, and the stars naming their kids Blue Ivy and Apple..just my two cents.

I think they're trying to connect with something that is either unique or faux-African sounding, without having any context. Having no ethnic names of our own due to slave trading meant that we had to find or look for other sources of authority.

    You know...
I used to wonder about this in context with my ex. His last name was very English.

I asked him about it once..if it was leftovers from his family at some point being owned by a Scott family.

He shrugged and asked "does it matter?"

I thought maybe it did. Not in ahugely let's get to the very bottom and connect every dot way.
But just in a...for your heritage you have an interesting last name kind of way.

I wondered if he had felt like it was insensitive at the time. I didn't ask to be rude and we were so close...

I still miss him. How stupid is that?
GQ reminds me of him I think..

I believe some single black woman named her child Clitoria and it created some hulabaloo.SMH, how the hell does a grown woman with her brains functioning name your daughter CLITORIA ??? I mean if her classmates wanted to call her by her shortened name that would be calling her Clit. I can imagine a 5 year old white girl going home and saying"mommy i played with Clit today". Imagine the horror that would be drawn on that mother's face.

Because naming your son Dick is all the more better. Like i said people dont want to admit it but blacks will be scrutinized for whatever they do more than any other race no matter what they do. Oh well thats life.

Once again, you confuse nick names with actual names. Like you did for John being named after a toilet.

Dick is a nickname. For Richard. It is not named after a penis. "Dick" being SLANG for penis is relatively new.
Dick is also a nick name for behaving like a fucking idiot. So if you are called a dick, you now know why.

I grew up with tons of boys named "Dante", and to many, it was considered the ultimate ghetto name of the late 80's/early 90's. Alot of black people I grew up with don't realize that the name "Dante" is actually Italian.

My vote for the most ghetto name of the century has gotta' go to WyKeisha. Makes me wanna' ask her "Why, Keisha??? Why, why, why"???

Yeah, in her lifetime, I can bet that she was the but of many jokes. What kills me is when parents give their children names that they can't even pronounce.....

Oh please, who the fuck would EVEN NEED to go that route? :smt036

Clear as day are your many cheating posts YOU repeatedly BLAST...'bragging' how you like to fuck around on your (Black) wife. You even damn near wrote a book on why in one.
Frankly any chick dumb enough to fux with you deserves to learn the hard way ...but do know I'd surely sign my name if I even cared for one second to save them from you.

Just admit you're just butt-hurt no one is buying your sudden feigned-seriousness in this thread. :smt010
