    It's like Marmite, if you've ever tasted that. But waaay more delectable.

    It's the drippings of yeast collected from beer barrels. The best way to describe it is think of beef bullion paste how concentrated and salty that is...
    Best way to eat it -- on toast with melted butter and just a dab of it spread very sparingly. :tonqe:

    Don't think they do the cheesybite stuff any more, I remember advertising that back in 91....it was a flop.

    Had Vegemite and avocado on toast just then for breakfast :D

    TB1958,in that lyric it was "He just smiled and gave a vegemite sandwich." The singer mentioned the meeting of a man from Brussels. I saw the video of Down Under. It is one of my fave Oz songs from the 80's.
