actually ,you would ask , can i get a moment of your time to fill out a survey about dating ? I doubt anyone really wants to fill out a survey enough to
say would you like to fill out a survey.

"Here, do this and get a Nicole hug"
lol, college students are more willing to do things when they get something in return :p

This is an excellent idea, teddy. Very creative thinking. :smt023

Personally, I would make a minor adjustment if it were my line of questioning which would be ...

............ex: Hi, would you mind briefly giving me your opinion/s about dating?

or........May I briefly ask you your opinions on dating?

I tend to think that people don't like to 'take surveys", but everyone lovvves to give their opinion (haha). And the 'brief' tells them it wont take long, especially because some surveys can drag on and people think they don't have time to "take/do a survey" right now".

I wonder if deaf blacks use double negatives in sign language as well?

I don't know no other way to get there.

i see what your saying , but this is not about opinions , it's a study of
are more deaf people willing to be in an interracial relationship than non deaf
people. so , the survey will ask about the facts of their dating life.
Basically the questions won't be about "what do you think about interracial
relationships" More like " do you date interracially "
But if you can find a better work for survey ,that will be cool.

I believe it is also about opinions. If you re-read my post, I merely duplicated your own question suggestion, changing only your "Would you take a survey on DATING, to; "May I have your opinion on dating". That's all. No difference really, just a different approach (for their same answer) in order to get them interested enough to TAKE the time for her, since people tend to reject survey offers. (unless you pay them).

ps: I just read the OP....

well,I think that was her earlier idea . she was throwing around some ideas .
Then she settled on deaf vs non deaf on interracial relationships.

I think it will be best if she just did a study finding out if deaf people are more willing to date interracially than the hearing .
we could find out that it doesn't matter or being deaf may have you seeing the world in a different light.
as for what people think about interracial dating ....... i can care less .
    and i don't wanna hear it .

Presented my proposal to the department faculty last Thursday, it's very much do-able! :)

...I have to think of some survey questions. I'm sure some will come as I read more into things, but is there anything Y'ALL could be interested in knowing?

Any ideas are welcome, might hive me ideas for question to place on the survey! :)

I'd be interested in knowing if hearing affects their awareness of or sensitivity to disapproval expressed by others.

Nic, I want to know if people who are deaf see themselves as minorities and if so does this makes them more comfortable dating outside of their race..I hope this makes sense..and that you know I am not meaning this is a mean way.

lol, thats the point of the survey . but i suggested that this question not be asked straight forward . Because people "LIE " when they are confronted.
it's a defense mechanism (well, thats my opinion anyway)

we have tossed around alot of ideas , but you haven't confirm anything .
you haven't told us what you decided to do.
I believe the survey subject matter is "are deaf people more open to dating interracially ,than non deaf people ". Then you ask a bunch of questions to
get the results. and i've advised you to make it look like a dating survey.
Then get the information you need to figure out if deaf people date more
    interracially .

I'm not concerned about the approach, I just need to actually come up with the survey questions now.

I don't see how I need to confirm anything when I said from thefirst post I made on this, that the subject matter is on if deaf people are more open to dating interracially than non deaf people.

Now, I'm simply asking now, if there's anything everyone else would be curious in knowing.
