Yeah, I hate this too. Once or twice, I'd let it slide. Anything beyond that is unacceptible...

I said "out", not going to the gym. And I am not talking about stylish trainers, I'm talking about white reebok looking running shoes or other typical functional running shoes. The only excuse would be if you ARE wearing athletic gear and are going to a ballgame or something. Tennis shoes are not for the club or a decent restaurant.

Go to a casual restaurant like Chili's and wear a pair of crocs if you want to get a 10% discount along with your seafood specials.

This is an awesome idea. Where do u get these?

Along with the nasty not flushing and not washing I hate when there IS soap and a hand dryer instead of paper towels.
I have to touch the door handle after all the people who don't wash and it kinda defeats the whole purpose.

When ppl bring their macs or devices in and their desktop is a flat out mess. I always want to nicely arrange it but can't. Women seem to be the worst offenders.

I posted this in the "Stereotypes and Myths" section in a thread called "Are Black People bad tippers?", so I'll apologize ahead of time for this double post, but this is truly the only pet peeve I have and it means a lot to me, so here goes:

As a bartender, I can tell you that this is more true than I would like to admit, but blacks are far from the only ones who are often lousy tippers. There are a few ethnic group, that I won't name here, that are notorious for not tipping. To be fair, I have also received some very generous tips for many blacks, most of whom are in the service industry themselves. My favorite customers are other bartenders.

A few people on this thread have mentioned the relatively low wage that servers get, so I won't go into all that. I realize that I chose to do what I do, and I accept the bad with the good. What gets me is people who expect EXTRA services that they are not entitled to, and still don't want to tip or even express their verbal gratitude. Case in point: I work for a lounge owned by a corporate entity, and they have a very specific recipe for each drink. If I sell X number of long island iced teas, there is a certain amount of booze that goes into each drink, and my register tape had better reflect what I have sold. There is no room to add an extra 1/2 ounce of liquor to a drink, just because you want it, or my ass is fired. Yet people, particularly a lot of black people (just because I am black) expect to get this perk, and I know gotdamn well they are not going to tip or even give me a "thanks a lot, bruh". I know this because it has happened too many times.

So all I am saying is I will always give every single customer good service, because that is what I do, and I do it well. For those of you who express your appreciation with a gratuity, I thank you. For you who don't tip, because "...I paid the gotdamn bill and that's good enough", I will also give you what you paid for, but don't expect anything else, because you aren't entitled to more than the establishment is charging you for.

Not sure TB1958, but are you speaking here of repeat customers? Otherwise how would you know until the end that they "don't tip" and thus feel they should "not expect anything else"?

    **********

On a general note, another pet-peeve: Rude/incompetent servers (in any industry) who expect a *generous tip. (*because unless it's outlandish treatment, I feel they still deserve a minimum-based tip).

I try and take care of my bartenders as much as possible (especially after last night...tequila kept me sane). I've never worked in the service industry before but I try to make sure that my servers are taken care of. I can't think of the last time I didn't leave a tip, even when the service was bad.

The only time I have not tipped (ever) is a few months ago when about 8 of us went to an exclusive lake community. We went out for lunch, and the girlfriend of our host, who is black (half black wtever - the girlfriend I mean, not my host) was served a sandwich with onions on it and she didn't know it came with onions. She asked them to remake it. They took 45 MINUTES, serving whole tables instead of her. We ALL agreed, as a group, to tip the server ZERO (in addition, his service was generally lousy, like really bad and unprofessional). I, being the oldest, told the manager precisely why her server was getting zero dollars in a tip. She said the sandwich had to go to the "end of the line", and I told her that was poor kitchen management - she should make the customer happy as quickly as possible, bumping the sandwich up to priority and getting it taken care of. I told her we would never be coming back again because of their horrible service and disrespect toward us AND would tell our friends and family to do the same.

That is the first time I have ever done that but it was well deserved.

    - Control freaks (I can be one at times too, but I control my own shit, not others)

    - Pompous know-it-all assholes (if you know your shit, let others see for themselves, don't announce it)

    - When people say some crazy off the wall shit and when you call them out on it, they seem to go off into lala land. Loonies!

Man we all have issues. LOL

My pet peeve about myself is that every since I got a stupid touch screen phone I forget to push SEND half the time went I text.

Also that I can't get my body to realize NOT to wake up at 5AM when I am off work on a weekday. I can sleep late on the weekends, but weekdays forget it.

I hate that my schedule doesn't allow vacation days when I want them. That will cahgne once I start a new career. However, I might have to take a random Wednesday or Thursday off and go for a LONG drive and look at foliage. :)

A pet peeve related to work... Working 9 am-noon giving feedback on papers, yet the office assistant shows up late and I cannot get into the office (or access the papers) until she comes.
Then, finally getting into the office, have to wait for the office assistant to sign into her computer, check facebook and stuff, then FINALLY screen the papers for plagarism before finally sending to me.

I guess my pet peeve is slow/lazy co-workers... and being required to show up at work for 9 am when I don't actually start working till it's closer to 10 am.... that's another hour I could've spent in bed!
