Do you prefer your man to be tall or short?

Thanks ladies. If anything I would have liked to have been born in another time. Say maybe Black Power. I could have done something real then, perhaps. As it stands now all I have is a snaggle of white hens goofing off like the crows or elephants in Dumbo. Same thing.

    *embarrassed*

LOL...no worries SA. I am sure you mean well. You just tend to exaggerate quite a bit, and I think that's why people are cautious of you. That, and the fact that you say some of the most backwards crap I have ever heard. But, not everyone has the ability to express themselves without sounding slightly "Trollish". So, please continue with the exaggerations and psuedo-racially charged stereotypes and we will all stay here to point them out when they are wrong. :)

Really? This racist crap? I personally didn't grow up during the Black Power movement. However, my parents did and they were involved. I noticed that the cringed or shook their heads when they saw dumbo. Of course, after they movie they explained to me why.

Do you honestly think your racially charged statements would have somehow helped the black power movement?

Were you planning on getting into a fist fight with J. Edgar Hoover and get him to stop COINTELPRO? Or do you mean to travel in the past to Greenwood, Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1921 (If by power you mean Blacks creating their own self sufficient town IE. The Black Wall Street), and somehow saving the town from being attacked by air (the first time we have been attacked by air from terrorism, not 9/11) and other means? Because quite frankly, you seem to have an issue with the way Black Men are these days. So, are you saying that you would find it better if we were the way we were when we could get killed for looking at you (Note: Emmit Till).

SA, you are amusing sometimes, but really, get a grip.

I'm tired of being in denial, my gold digging ho bag sisters. I'm putting it out there (that is my grade A vajayjay) to the tallest/highest bidder.

Yes, I wish I had a time machine. I would love to go back and fight for justice - I still do every day in my own little way. FYI I KNOW Dumbo is a racist movie which is why I brought up the analogy in the first place. Thanks - try again.

I do NOT have an issue with Black Men being powerful - that is what I WANT. I relate to you all on a personal level - your victory is my victory. I do NOT always or even USUALLY see (unfortunately, where I live), black men being powerful - when I do, it's extremely uplifting to me and I want to stand beside that man.

Black Men being powerful? Really? Power is an individual perception. A man may have a minimum wage job, but providing for himself and or say his wife and kids makes him powerful. He may not attempt shooting down police to "get back at the man", but he is powerful. Fighting for justice? How so? You can't fight for justice in this day and age?

It seems like you are one of those people who have a naive view of black history. For those that lived it (at least the ones that I know and grew up during that era and who were in various civil rights groups) hated it. Which is why they fought so damn hard. You have a skewed perspective of a difficult time. Not sure how many times you have been shot at, had your vehicle blown up or endure the possibility of getting hung by crazies if things didn't go right, but I can assure you it sucks.

Feel free to have a romantic view of bad times, but the reality is, YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

Luv, stop it. You are preaching to the choir. I am more than willing to side with a man regardless of the risks to my life - in present time. I probably am naive, but I wish I could be more involved (and am trying to be). I have always been a crusader in real life and nothing lights the fire under me more than inequality or oppression. I may be unpopular here, but please stop looking for things to disagree with me on.

Trust this - my name is not saintaugusta for nothing. If it came down to it I would happily give my life for the cause.

LMAO!!! OK, a few questions... which cause would you plan on dying for (as if anyone wanted to die for any cause during the civil rights era... they just wanted a better life for themselves and their children)? Which group would you plan on dying with? How would you "fight" (because all you have expressed is empty rhetoric and your wish to lay up under someone in the black power movement)?

In addition... have you ever been shot at, had a vehicle or home blown up, or have you ever been in an area where you would have to fear being lynched if caught?

Don't waste your intellect on a he she who has probably never even heard of Emmett Till or rosewood. My high school juniors know if this person and this event.

I already knew about both of these events. I knew that a black boy was murdered for looking at a white woman and that it was pivotal to the civil rights movement - could not have told you his name (I was not educated in the PC - good and bad- present day but back when it was very Euro-centric). I have also seen the movie Rosewood (a long time ago) and remember being very moved by it, but this was back before I had a really strong awareness of racism and history - I need to watch it again.

I taught a two day lesson on Jacob Lawrence (the Harlem Renaissance painter/artist) and did a lot of studying about the Harlem Renaissance as a result, presented it to high school students - and have been thoroughly fascinated by the time period as a result. I CHOSE the topic of African American art when most white people would have brushed it aside in favor of Impressionism or something similarly familiar (although Impressionism is wonderful). I tied in Jacob Lawrence's Social Realism with Courbet and other pre-Impressionistic socially motivated artists, and taught the difference between Realism and Romanticism in art.

We all romanticize the past, but let me tell you, I know what my convictions are and what I am willing to sacrifice in order to stand up for them - it is not your job to place limitations on me. I may not be AS knowledgeable about black history as you, Luv, but I relish the opportunity to learn, seize on every chance I get, and every day my knowledge and experience grow. I am a better person as a result and strive to contribute nothing but good things to my community.

I was (and am) being honest. Not that I don't entirely care - a man has to want to (and try to) make his money to pay his bills....but as I stated, I never could be his just for his money. We are all more than our income.
