Did you listen to the report? It actually made a lot of sense fiscally. The doom and gloom attitude is unneeded fam

It is true though. You have too many of the older generation that doesn't realize what competition looks like. A devastated Europe from ww2. china and India broke and poor.

That's not competition for the usa.

What happens when India starts heading upwards like china is and Europe comes out of its financial mess?

Meanwhile, we are worried about the middle east which plays little role in the economy.
I just honestly don't see much of hope for simply addressing the important subjects.

I will be voting for Obama but I hope he looks at what is coming down the line for america. I know that fascist won't.

I think China and India will become less of a problem as cost of living catches up with them. The only reason they can offer labor as cheap as they do is because they have an oppressed populus who will unionize as the cost of living increases.
Competition has always been a factor in some way shape or form but think of it this way even in our best days former super powers like the UK or even France still maintained a top ten position as far as economies in the world. I think as time goes on quality is going to start beating out quantity and that will make places like China and India become less of a problem. Will it ever be like it was before? Definitely not but it is time for us to evolve. To become better than we were before.

    DK is right.

We've been hearing about the pending threat of the Chinese economy for 30 years, and it never happens.

There's too much cronyism and corruption in their political system, and they don't have the middle class to support their growing economy to buy the goods they produce domestically.

THe more economically prosperous these developing economies become, the more political unrest countries like China and India have to solve.

Even now we're reading stories about factory worker riots in manufacturing provinces in China. As the world becomes more global, you can't expect a Chinese laborer who earns less than a dollar a day to be content with his wages.

If Obama is successful in his 2nd term at preventing China from artificially devaluing its currency, which makes Chinese exports cheaper and foreign imports more expensive - a de facto tariff, the U.S. will be able to compete on a more even playing field globally.

The dirty little secret about India and China with over 1 billion people apiece is that they are too populous, too poor with too many unskilled, illiterate citizens to ever develop a domestic economy in the near term that provides for the needs of all their people.

China's domestic economy is built upon commercial construction and development. That economic sector is presently experiencing a slow down and so is the constant upward growth curve of the Chinese economy.
