Just curious. How many of you feel the need to own and carry a gun for the ones you love. Have we really progressed a lot in that IR is accepted in this society? I know we still get the stares and sly remarks, but do you ever feel threaten or for the safety of your mate that having that additional insurance is necessary like owning a gun. Much is not reported in the media on violence toward IR couples, but I do know that racist elements still exist like the skinheads (shock troops) for larger organizations that still randomly attack IR couples, especially WW/BM. I know this subject been addressed in the past but, in light of some of the senseless violence that has captured the headlines recently, do you and your mate (and children) feel safe?

The only time I have felt truly threatened was when my Ex and I got lost in South Boston and some micks engaged us in a car chase out of their neighborhood, but as far as carrying a gun, I think it would have been worse if he had one.

I feel 99% safe, it's legal to own a weapon here, but nobody uses it or even has the feeling that it could be necessary. THANK GOD!

I wouldn't own a gun for this reason or any other. :( No reason to have a gun in my book.

We have a couple of rifles, not so much for our security but to ward off the coyotes that come around occasionally looking to make dinner out of our chickens. I have even seen three of them stalk our little pony before I made it out to the pasture.

But seriously this isn't reason for a gun. If every time someone insulted you ......well you would have been blown away more than 1000 times from posting here alone. :smt021

I can agree with you that it would be a little drastic. Violence can raise it's head anytime. The random incidents are what bothers me. We had an incident in Williamsburg a few year ago in which a young black male in the company of a white female was seriously beaten by a group of five white males simply because he was dating the young woman. A similar incident happened last year in New York City. I brought this up because of the rise in racial attacks that seem to be on the rise and not just with WW/BM couples. Simply giving the thugs a choice "live or die" in protecting yourself and your love ones seem to me the best insurance to deter an attack. But, give them the option. It's their choice. Live or die.

Hello my gay friend. It's not the angry man who you should fear, but the hungry man who you should fear. Your harem is secured. - Blacktiger
