Don't even know why we are talking about Democracy with these folks. As long as religious dogma is the primary basis of their mindset in regards to society, the incompatibility will exist with principles of freedom and human rights. Their world and way of life is completely different from ours and we insist on thinking we can force feed them democracy, human rights and freedoms. Getting rid of the dictators have only served to allow the crazed religious bandicoots to run wild in some of these places like Egypt, Tunisia and Libya under the guise of democracy, when these types have no interest in such a system in actuality. The West continues to be gullible.
Now let me understand this. From here forward our government has to respond to every video put out by a crank. Just a matter of time when the cranks will win, we will lose our freedom of speech in this country. We may all live to see this one.
Yeah, repugnant as it is, I can't understand why this is going on in Australia. It also goes back to the filmmaker, if you know that its going to cause this much trouble to innocent people, why make the film? I am all for freedom of expression, but this entire situation is unnecessary. It is an extreme reaction to a stupid idea. smh
Apparently. Anyone who saw that raggedy video, can see it was amateur hour. One of my first comments on here about it was how stupid it looked and full of stereotypes. What I have seen though is these protesters seemingly are connecting this to the United States, in spite of the obvious foolhardiness of that. Attacking U.S. embassies and Hardee's restaurants and other American identified symbols in their country over something an "Eyptian Coptic Christian living in America created" On this issue these people seem drunk on ignorance and incapable of making distinctions in their way of thinking. I bet you if asked they would say the U.S. government were the one's behind that "crap video" that insulted their Prophet. The other day a 14 year old Pakistani Christian girl was arrested in Pakistan for allegedly tearing pages from the Koran and a cleric was later arrested for planting pages in ashes to frame her. http://india.nydailynews.com/newsar...hristian-girl-accused-of-blasphemy-i-m-scared Some notable quotes from the article Just disgusting stuff, this is why I say these people live in a different world folks. They need a lot more than democracy.
With the dictators in Libya, Egypt and Iran having been overthrown, there's a power struggle among radical groups who's public expression had been suppressed by the government. The radicals think they can weaken these newly elected democratic governments by challenging their authority to put down these protests and turn the state backed police into the new oppressors of the people. THe U.S. government is just a scapegoat. The upside is most of these protests don't represent a huge segment of the population in these countries. I say let them do what they want. If these radicals and malcontents want to tear their own civil society apart because of their hate for the USA, go for it. Eventually it wlll be harder to convince the average Arab Uncle Sam is the enemy when there is no dictator anymore being propped up by our foreign aid and military support.
Very good point. its just ironic the U.S. helped get rid of Mubarak, Gaddafi and Ben Ali in Tunisia and they are given a reality check about that part of the world when it comes to the notion of democracy and human rights and freedom of speech, etc. As long as the U.S. maintains a presence in that part of the world, those folks will always have a convenient excuse to fall back on. What the new leader of Egypt is saying in Europe as he came hands out, begging for financial aid and loans for Egypt's depressed economy, is different from what he says back in Egypt.
The dirty little secret that was just reported on ABC News this morning is that the shit head who started this video was not Jewish, but a immigrant from Egypt who is a Coptic Christian. Anybody else picked up on this one too. Can not believe everything these days from the corrupt media. I do not trust media in this country anymore.
That information has been out since the day after it happened. So ABC letting the dirty little secret out.........days after others reported it. Look at some of the above posts there are links to sites that reported he isn't Israeli and told people he was Egyptian.
The movie thing was just an excuse for them to attack somebody since the tension is high, but honestly, you gotta be an idiot to make a movie that make fun of Mohamed considering the times we live in. I have the feeling that if they made a movie of Jesus doing funny sex things or something, the US would be all over them with some bombs just because it's so fun to drop bombs on ppl. Just sayin. Sad.
He says in his post he doesn't trust media anymore, so even if he had read what others already posted and/or linked that was already out about this guy he probably wouldn't/didn't believe any of it? :smt102:smt017
Cmon Arwen you don't truly believe that do you. People make fun of Christianity all the time. Quick example, people dress up like Jesus Christ for drunken Halloween parties and no one is going to attack them for it. Some women will dress like the Virgin Mary, etc. I've seen it with my very own eyes and no one bats an eye about it. Try dressing like Muhammad and see how it unfolds in the vicinity of Muslims. Its just we in the West have been encouraged to embrace secularism. The Islamic world has not to this very day. Many things are often filtered through the prism of Islam and has to denote a religious context to it, whether legitimate or convenient the case may be. You cut off a man's head, Allah commands it, you beat a woman, the prophet Muhammad commands it, you blow yourself up, you get 70 virgins in heaven. Doesn't mean we don't have our own issues in the West around religion but these folks go over the top. Pretty troubling given that film had nothing to do with the U.S. government, it looked like some hack spliced it together with Final Cut Pro in his basement. I share a great affinity for other cultures but surely cannot ignore the way some followers of Islam use religion for violent actions without even pausing to think about it critically. Personally I think Obama is naive to think he can democratize an entire region of hundreds of millions, pretty presumptive. They have to be willing to do it themselves.
"So right on" like they use to say in the 1960's, I will not be part of the masses of robot numbed lemmings ready to dive off the cliff with the pack because someone said to believe what they say. Those days for me ARE OVER.
Not saying you should trust all media, because they all have some agenda in how and what information they put out, but when multiple media outlets are all putting out the same story with the same basic information, then usually one would begin to think there may be something to the story.
In fairness we drop bombs for economic interests not religious. So unless somebody got some oil I doubt we'd bomb them
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/br...-protest-reports/story-e6frf7kf-1226475420015 Islamic protest in Sydney linked to SMS From: AAP September 17, 20128:11AM NSW Police are examining text messages to try and establish the role they may have played in inciting the weekend's violent protest against an anti-Islam film. A text message reading: "They have mocked him in pictures and now mocking him in a movie, why are we allowing this", is believed to have been sent by a computer, News Limited reported on Monday. Fairfax also reports that police are understood to have received some text messages on Friday night that called for people to "defend the honour of our prophet". "Some of this will have to be looked at from a legal perspective to see what offences are actually committed by some of these text messages," Deputy Commissioner Nick Kaldas told the Seven Network on Monday. Sydney police were caught off-guard by the angry protesters who rampaged through the city centre, Mr Kaldas said. He said police initially thought the demonstrations would take place on Sunday. However, officers managed to assemble as large numbers of people marched from Town Hall to the US consulate in Martin Place on Saturday. "We were aware that there was something planned for Sunday at one o'clock - that appeared to have been cancelled," Mr Kaldas said. "We were actually caught off-guard to some extent by what came on Saturday." The fracas in Sydney came after other protests around the world sparked by the film Innocence of Muslims, which was produced in the United States and portrays Prophet Mohammed as a fraud, womaniser, homosexual and madman. Two police officers sustained head injuries as violence erupted in Hyde Park where protesters clashed with up to 150 officers. Six people were arrested and charged. One of them, 29-year-old featherweight boxing champion Ahmed Elomar, was denied bail at the weekend.
When I saw the images it was hard for me to tell if this was Sydney or instead Kabul, Peshawar, Islamabad or Cairo. I have no idea why these people keep linking this crude film to the United States of America. The U.S. government didn't produce this filth or supported it, it has nothing to do with the U.S. government, but none of that seems to matter to these rampaging hyenas in the streets. You or I could go into our basement, put some piece of junk together come out and post it on youtube and viola, riots and chaos would ensue from these folks. Couldn't believe some of these disgusting folks in Australia of all places had up banners that said we love Osama and Sharia law will dominate the world, behead those who insult the prophet. How the hell did these folks get into Australia, they sound real integrated and embracing of Western values while living there.
it was so shocking to see it on the news. we have such tough immigration laws so i'm not too sure what's happened really. there's been a video released of a girl 8 years of age discussing her love of jihad. what on earth is going on? http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/8534250/video-emerges-of-sydney-girl-promoting-jihad Video footage has emerged of a young girl speaking of her love for jihad at a Muslim conference in western Sydney as the city continues to deal with the fallout from the weekend’s violent riots. Eight-year-old Ruqaya yesterday addressed a crowd at the Australian chapter of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Bankstown as part of their "Muslims Rise" conference, Nine News reports. Ruqaya spoke of her love for jihad, which means a spiritual struggle or holy war, the global Islam community, known as Ummah, and the violent uprisings in Syria. "These uprisings have demonstrated that this Ummah is alive and well, that her sentiments are for Islam, her love is for Jihad, she has unshackled herself from the fear which she held," she said. "Children as young as myself can be seen on the streets joining the uprisings, risking their lives to bring food, water and medicine to their wounded family members, some of them never returning to their mothers ... Nobody is too young. " The alarming video comes as NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell ordered Family and Community Services Minister Pru Goward to investigate the background of a young child who was pictured at the riots holding a posters ordering the beheading of anyone against the prophet. "We cannot incite our children to violence for any reason, and we cannot use our children to promote messages that incite people to violence," Ms Goward said. Seventeen people were injured and six were arrested and charged on Saturday, including champion boxer Ahmed Elomar. The immediate priority for NSW detectives on Monday was to trace the as-yet-unidentified figures who used text messages and social networking sites to organise the protests, which quickly escalated into a riot. Messages urged recipients to "defend the honour of the Prophet" and led dozens of people, mostly Muslim men, to gather in central Sydney and voice anger at the Innocence of Muslims movie. Muslim leaders say they remain mystified about the identity of the protest organisers. Sydney Lebanese community spokesman Keysar Trad said he received a text message on Friday urging recipients to "defend the honour of the Prophet" in Sydney's CBD. But he did not know who sent the message and he condemned the resulting violence. "This was the dumbest thing that young people could do - all they've done is publicised a film that doesn't deserve to be publicised," Mr Trad told AAP. The president of the Lebanese Muslim Association, Samier Dandan, told the ABC he also did not know the source of the messages, despite many inquiries. Authorities are bracing for more clashes, although NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione says he hopes the voice of reason will prevail. "If anyone is stupid enough to try this sort of thing again, I can tell you now, we're more than ready," Mr Scipione told Macquarie Radio. Sources: Nine News, AAP, The Australian Author: Ali Best. Ugh!, just sickening, these folks don't sound like they have any intention of integrating into society. Australia had better be on guard, these fanatics love martyrdom. The only good aspect is police were tipped off by other Muslims about the rally. I'm just shocked to see this going on in Australia. Didn't realize when Australia became part of the Islamic world. Do these folks even have respect for Australian laws and society, despite living in it.
