    The conservatives used to label anyone who read Karl Marx a godless communist because Marx was an atheist.

    But apparently it's okay to follow the extreme social and economic opinions of Ayn Rand and still be a good Christian even though she was an avowed atheist too.

    She's a social darwinist, survival of the fittest.
    If you aren't rich and successful, you're one of the 'losers' who are a drain on society. But she believes the less prosperous can have a role in society by providing cheap labor for the 'haves'.

    Almost all of her beliefs are antithetical to Christian ideology and the nation state.

    She is anti-government in the sense that the government has no greater role than o defend the individual's pursuit of 'happiness'.
    Ayn Rand invented the idea of 'gated communities', privileged enclaves where the successful folks can isolate themselves from the rest of the human cattle.

    Ayn Rand's view of capitalism is that it should be free from interference by the state, no matter what. She would have favored the Wall Street collapse of 2008 and would have advocated letting the global economic system burn to the ground.

    It amazes me sometimes who conservatives hold up as ideal spokespersons for their beliefs, and don't know what the fuck these people stand for.

    Here's Ayn Rand's view on abortion;

    An embryo has no rights. Rights do not pertain to a potential, only to an actual being. A child cannot acquire any rights until it is born. The living take precedence over the not-yet-living (or the unborn).

    Abortion is a moral right—which should be left to the sole discretion of the woman involved; morally, nothing other than her wish in the matter is to be considered. Who can conceivably have the right to dictate to her what disposition she is to make of the functions of her own body?

    Bet that would go over like gangbusters at the RNC convention!!!lol

    Ayn Rand's view on charity;

    My views on charity are very simple. I do not consider it a major virtue and, above all, I do not consider it a moral duty. There is nothing wrong in helping other people, if and when they are worthy of the help and you can afford to help them. I regard charity as a marginal issue. What I am fighting is the idea that charity is a moral duty and a primary virtue.

    But she is right on a LOT of points. I dont know where she stands on all issues but she is dead on when its comes to thinking that "life isnt fair" and "survival of the fittest"

    I dont get why you folks are blasting her for telling the truth.
