While not all religions contain books which advocate violence on others to reinforce control or supremacy, the Abrahamic religions (Christianity and Islam mainly) have holy books which reinforces that very thing and it of the forefront of that.

Granted, you often don't see a lot of Christians exercise that since the majority of the well-developed countries have secular laws and aren't favored in a theocentric sense. This is why you don't see archaic ideas from the Bible being put into practice except from the most reactionary of individuals. Building a compromise with faith in a secular society reaps benefits, as we do here in the U.S.A.. But to say there aren't any piss and moan Christians would do denounce or favor censorship is blindsighted.

Example(s): The Catholic Church and Scientology.

However, you still have your Christians would kill abortion doctors and blowing up their clinics, or even drown their children out of mere delusion. With Islam, out of the 1.6 billion practitioners in the religion, it's less than 0.0001% of that group and they mostly come from countries in which dogmatic rule is heavily emphasized. It's sort of funny how Islam has taken a lot more notice since 9/11. Prior to that, hardly anyone knew a thing about Islam or what a Muslim is. But now, it's gotten out of control. The "moderate" Muslims and clerics...and I dare say the liberal Muslims should have a bigger voice and denounce the actions of radicalism.

It exists everywhere, but dogma is what drives people mad.

And this is the most tragic thing that has befell the current events altogether. It's sad that this happened.

Humans have the natural tendency to retreat back to fear. It's a feeling of closure and hope.

Iggy you do realize you are playing right into the hands of the people who would make such a film when you make statements like

    "stupid muslims"
    "fuckin savages"
"The most savage and violent religion out there is clearly Islam right now."

You and I both know, or I would hope you know that this goes beyond a stupid little film.

Events over the long history of the Middle East and American involvement would bare that out profoundly.

That rubbish video is a mere little spark on the bomb that is the Middle East.

The three tenets of European explorers who set out on expeditions were Gold, Glory and God.

The latter of which, God, could be used to justify any action to attain the former two, Gold and Glory.

After all the Natives were mere heathens, who needed to be taught the ways of the one true God.

So did those savage Africans as well. :)

Yes, I mean you had recently that Danish director who made the documentary about Islam's treatment of women - he was stabbed to death by a fanatic who took offense, and the Muslim woman in the video went into hiding and was granted asylum in another western country...

The world knows when you mock their Prophet - hell when you defile their Koran - they go batshit.

But what's pissing me off is this wasn't a visceral reaction - this was a calculated, pre-planned assault to 'celebrate" the downing of the WTC and deaths of Americans. It was just their excuse, because their standard reaction is to go after the maker, not storm Embassies. THOSE RADICALS ARE LYING.

OMG! :( Did they beat him? He still looks alive! Horrific. I wish he had died instantly. I'm so saddened. :(

Even Hillary said, MY GOD we (and he) HELPED (fucking) liberate your country (you ungrateful pieces of shit!) (sans swearing but you know she wanted to get all extra but couldn't).

In such a tinderbox region of the world, nothing happens in a vacuum.

There are always forces behind it, orchestrating it and seeking to exploit and benefit from it.

The United States can never bring peace to the Middle East, only the individuals who exist there can.

Look for how long they tried with the Israelis and Palestinians to no avail.

The visceral hatred, mistrust and cultural differences are too drastic to be effective in such a climate.

I'm personally one who believes the United States needs to leave that region to its own devices.

For example let the Syrians solve their own issues, that way they are responsible for their future and its consequences in their own lives.

Sorry GQ, in this case he is 100% correct. What they did was savage. The people responsible are savages. They claim to do it in the name of Islam, but true Muslims feel their religion has been hijacked, and that these radicals are an affront to Islam and are not real Muslims.

Look what the bastard Janjaweed did to the Sudanese. There are practically no Christian Black men left alive. Almost all have been slaughtered, their villages burned, their women raped and hacked, their children murdered. It's an absolute affront to humanity that they committed such an atrocious genocide "in the name of Islam".

I absolutely agree with you, but we can never leave them to their own devices - we need their oil (to a degree) and they can't be trusted. Look at Saddam and Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - they were/are borderline delusional nutcases. They do not view death and dying as we do. Life to us is sacred and to be preserved at all costs - they see many types of deaths as an honorable means to an end.

If you are gay in Iran, Ahmadinejad hangs you in the Public Square, even teenagers. When he told the American reporter there are no gays in Iran, people snickered, but the back story is as I explained. 'Scared Straight" means something real different in Iran.

The reality is that human beings are savages.

The market is well covered by all.

Whether we hack off limbs with a machete

Drop a bomb from a stealth fighter at 30,000 feet

support dictators that serve a political interest while repressing their own people

fire a gun in the projects of inner city Chicago or Detroit that kills an innocent child or another dope boy dead

Throw acid in the face of a woman because she brought "supposed" family dishonor

Burning a different tribe member in the streets of an African village via necklacing, (placing a tire bathed in fluid around the neck of someone and setting it on fire) while they burn alive in agony.

Despite the horrors of these things we never seem to be able to stop ourselves from doing it. Wonder why.

    i suppose at what price.

I am aware of the public executions in Iran.

Of course the history of Iran lies in deep U.S. involvement in their affairs until it turned sour for America there.

I mentioned before that we cannot dictate to these folks how to live their lives, they have to want the change from within.

The world is too varied with billions of people across languages and customs.

Even here in America we have our own issues, much less trying to deal with societies and cultures that function in a different mindset.

Those citizens of those nations including Iran have to rise up and fight for their own rights.

Look at Libya, the U.S. helped oust Gaddafi and the repayment is a dead ambassador.

Those pictures are upsetting. That poor man. I wonder if the US will do anything.

There is nothing the U.S. can do, short of expecting Libyan authorities to arrest those who scaled the embassy walls.

But judging from the ineptitude of the security I doubt they even have that capability today.

Mind you this is a Libyan government supported by the Western nations after the fall of the Gaddafi regime.

Who to start looking at and where, that is part of the problem in the Middle East.

Ask any U.S. soldier who served in Iraq.

The man smiling at you one day could be the one trying to kill you hours later.

Yes and I wouldn't suggest military anything. We are involved in enough senseless military interventions already. I was thinking along other lines.

If you can't buy their love, why in the hell are you putting a deposit on their hate!....... 150 billion dollars of compassionate U.S. aid to Muslim countries in the last 7 years with unparalleled efforts to bring them democracy.....and where does it get us... we are still the great infidel and nation of satan.....so thirsty for our blood the ungrateful, violent, Son-of-Bitches killed our ambassador....................

Shit, imagine what all that can do in America, but no keep pumping taxpayer dollars overseas, because we can't have socialism at home, like those Swedes, Danes, Fins, Norwegians, etc.

Just goes to show how warped and twisted the priorities are.

No amount of money will buy their love of America in that part of the world.

Pretty sure all that coin dropped in Iraq could have served some purpose right here in the good ole US of A.

Yet the US insists on being captain Save A Hoe at every turn.

You can't democratize a people that don't want it.

Why the fuck should a Saudi woman not be able to drive on her own, because a bunch of old, grey bearded farts say its forbidden for women to do these things.

People who cannot even think rationally about such things surely exist in a world that you or I couldn't even begin to imagine.
