...........they have filed a $10,000,000 civil lawsuit against police. I don't see any swinging or going for a gun. His friend was wearing a ski mask in 35 degree weather and that was suspicious??!!
Sad but part of a black mans life. Well, life that I've encountered. Getting pulled over for having nice vehicles (that I work hard for), being stalked for being indecisive in a store, & stopped by the pigs for walking in (my own) neighborhood after dark to name a few. And people wonder why I try to stay so positive. Theres a shit load of negative activity going on in everyday life to deal with. "It's a dirty world but it's still spinning, we can't do nun about it but try to live in it"- Juvenile
then black women wonder why we date white women...shit we catching hell outside the house then we have to come home to neck rolling, finger waving woman. shit. we need love and peace ...not war and peace
How can they lie when it's on video and they knew two days after the incident? Not a he said he said but on video.
http://www.abajournal.com/mobile/article/race_matters_in_sentencing_study_finds/ what we already know is 'official' now, since a legit study was done to prove just how fucked up the system is towards blacks.
And yet, people will still try to justify the officer's actions and say that all of this was warranted.
of course did u even look at the Utube comments :smt011 that officer was very reckless, cold-cockin a guy walking away like he was a cowboy
"It's his fault for not stopping as soon as he heard those distinctive footsteps behind him that clearly told him it was the police. If he had his shit together like a true upstanding example of a black man and read the code book that you get, he would have been able to properly identify those footsteps." :smt108
The only problem I can foresee is that the cop's lawyer can say we don't see what happened before the tape so an altercation could have gone on before hand and he was simply chasing down a perp who had his back turned to him and the gun went off by accident.
Having the gun discharge like that is punishable enough. Reckless endangerment, hearing loss, yadda yadda
I'm usually fair minded about these things, because I know there are some knuckleheads out there. But whatever the circumstances were that cop went overboard, swinging his gun butt up the side of the head of a person, so recklessly that the gun went off and that situation could have been a lot worse if the bullet had struck dude. Something I think we clearly need to understand when it comes to police brutality and those cops who may be racist and aggressive in overtones, is that the only things they hate more than a black person out and about, is an educated one, that they would deem a smart ass nicca. Remember the story between Henry Louis Gates Jr. the Harvard professor and his own property after cops got a call from a neighbor about two black men breaking into a house there and they wound up arresting him on his own property. This shit is not always lies and delusional paranoia by criminal Pookie and Ray Ray slinging rocks and running from the poe poe or "poelice". Something that ought to be kept in mind no matter what type of black man you may be out and about. You aren't immune if you are stopped for whatever reason, if the muthafucka doesn't like you shit could go wrong real quick and its your word against the police. Guess who will be trusted in every scenario. I'm someone who believes right is right and wrong is wrong, but frankly you cannot count on everyone you interact with to have that approach to life and their attitudes in relating to you.
there are 3 things that can't be explained in life.... who killed JFK the true contents of a McDonalds hamburger what happened between Gates and the Sgt on his front lawn i do know that if a cop is questioning you to make sure a house isn't being robbed, you don't go off the handle and in their face but hey I wasn't there and everyone has a side of a story
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Louis_Gates_arrest_controversy#Gates.27_accounts it's wiki but hey, it's still an entertaining read From The Smoking Gun "The Cambridge Police Department reports, authored by Sergeant James Crowley and Officer James Figueroa, quote an incensed Gates yelling, 'This is what happens to black men in America!,' and, when asked by Crowley to speak with him outside the residence, Gates replied, 'ya, I'll speak with your mama outside.' A disorderly conduct rap was filed against Gates, but quickly dropped by prosecutors. Gates is reportedly considering legal action against the Cambridge police" i had to lol at that trying to imagine some harvard professor having a ghetto moment like that
Sounds more like a dude who thought he was connected(through Obama) and wanted throw his weight around. Cops sound like they were doing their job. Dude didn't have ID on him, how were they suppose to know it was really his house.
but Gates is saying that he did furnish Harvard ID and all the stuff they asked. he says that they slapped the cuffs on him because of his repeated attempts to get their name/badge info. Crowley on the other hand paints the guy as ignorant and non-compliant after realizing how confusing the story was, Obama kinda pulled back from his staunch support of Gates/vilification of Crowley, and had that beer summit. Obama jumped the gun before actually looking at both sides and all the details. He cashed in his 'bro' card a little too early and got just as ghetto as Gates.
