Once you realize that you have to have self confidence that can only come through being you and being honest with yourself and not depedning on others you will be fine.

 

Up early for a day off, about to shower, do some errands and then settle down and do school work. Pretty good weekend. Reconnected with some friends, and on of them asked me for a date, never knew he thought of me in that regard, but I turned him down as it is FAR too soon after Mark and I don't want to hurt him. Actually agreed to have dinner with Mark tonight, as he wants to talk. Meeting him out, so there is no temptation to go backwards. He says it's important and wants to talk face to face. I'm nervous but determined NOT to speculate about what he wants. Sometimes trying to have a "mature" break-up sucks.

Why have a meeting when you are broken up? Clean break?? If I remember correctly your last breakup was similar where you kept contact and then the guy misunderstood that you really wanted to breakup. Why go backwards if you are truly moving forward/on? You are giving him mixed signals so when he takes them that way don't be surprised.

Two interesting things: Met two great chicks at Worldfest totally randomly who are also my age and date black men - we hung out the whole time and what kicked it off is we found out that one of the girls and me had dated the same guy! She's still really good friends with him - it was hilarious - she took a picture of me and sent it to him... the night ended with us all having dinner together (the guy and all three of us - after getting drenched by the "hurricane" coming through the festival)...

The other thing: Tripping a bit because while I was having fun with my new friends I ran into Rastaman. I wasn't surprised but I tried hard to stay calm. Stepped away from them to talk to him. He was alone (as usual). He asked if those were my sisters, and I said, no, my friends. "You didn't tell me about those friends" - I was like so? He asked me how me and another one of my guys friends were "doing" (he always seemed to think the guy wanted to sleep with me) - I was like huh? I said I was here last night with him and his girlfriend- whatever. So weird that he brought that up - almost made him sound jealous. I said, so I haven't heard from you in a while, and he said he'd been "keeping a low profile"... okay whatever. He told me I look nice as always...

Then this rose seller comes up to us and I was like GREAT. I turned my back. He said something to the rose man, and bought me a red rose. I was like, "no you keep it, give it to some other girl"... since I knew it had bought the rose to be polite. He said "no, you have it. Don't throw it in the trash. Put it in some water - enjoy it." I said, okay... well I need to get back... and left him, mostly because I was starting to get super nervous and my legs start to shake when that happens. I walked away... the girls were like "what happened! you're shaking! Was that him?"

It was really nice to have a support system that night...we spent the rest of the night walking around drinking beer and laughing before we met up with the old mutual boyfriend to have dinner. Saw Rasta a few more times... he was always alone, just standing there. While I was the one having fun! I looked later on that night and he had sent me a text saying "Enjoy your rose."...

Then this morning he asked me to come by and see him this afternoon... I don't know what to do!
