One drop rule or not, look at Obama, Moore and myself. I have the lightest skin and hair closer to the "white side" of my family than black. My mother is white as well. Compared to Obama and Moore and I have some African features, but in my opinion quite a few "white features" as well.

Not white. There are many mixed people men. Some look 100% black, others a mixture. Some look half, some look a quarter. I am not white and not black and do not see what "needs to be given a rest."

White, Black, Asian, Mixed, a lot of different ways of expressing our differences. I know of some people who prefer to be called mix. I think it's their right. But, the reality is that everyone is mixed until it comes time to get a job, get a taxi, or get pulled over by the police. A person is entitled to their own definition of themselves. Just keep in mind that many may not feel the same way.

Few of us are truly pure in whatever identity we choose but none of us had a choice in how we got here or the initial identity thrust upon us.

As long as we make our worlds and lives a trivial matter of origin rather than direction, we cannot progress to the next step, whatever that step may be...

Identity is important, identifying with some base gives comfort, support, and explanation to the many questions we have as we grow into who we are and how we relate to the world around us...

Bi and multiracial people are not something new or something different... DNA checks would astound us of our true origins and make up. Diversity is an art of nature to not clone everything the same as the thing before it.

Socially, finding one's niche can be as difficult as finding one's nest... One can never "go home", but one can make a home of her/his own...

I'm white and I barely identify as white. I feel really uncomfortable in all white surroundings. Mostly non-white men hit on me. What does that make me?
