The Associated Press surveyed more than a dozen economists, think tanks and academics, both nonpartisan and those with known liberal or conservative leanings, and found a broad consensus: The official poverty rate will rise from 15.1 percent in 2010, climbing as high as 15.7 percent. Several predicted a more modest gain, but even a 0.1 percentage point increase would put poverty at the highest level since 1965.

Something Reports like this leave out, is that at the same time that the poverty rate increases, we are also having the highest disparity between rich and the poor than we have had in generations. So basically the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.

The worse part is that the republican candidate for president (who has a real chance to win) is one of the few people in America who has personally benefited from the wealth gap increase. Yet their are plenty of poor people who plan on voting for him.

When will people learn to stop voting against their best interests?
