Getting to know her first would give you an idea of what to expect, if taking it further with a co-worker would be worthwhile. I mean, there might not be any chemistry at all, and the "what if's" were for nothing... or she could be 'the one' and then the "what if's" would still be for nothing. Get to know her, see how things go before taking the next step.
