Yes, it would still be mutual consent. It may look worse to us due to the society norms and views that we are accustomed to, but essentially the same scenario indeed. Now if the students grades were threatened in exchange for sex, then the issue would be very much different.

Not really, a lot of people value their careers more than that, it is not easy starting over from scratch, especially in this economy. Why do this in the first place when their are many interesting people outside of the classroom??

I still agree & as far as college is concerned, I don't know about the laws but when you're that age you're more on your own but the prof & the university can get into big trouble over stuff like that. Can you say lawsuits?!

If you are smart/mature enough to make other decisions at 18 then you are smart enough to say whether you want to have sex with a teacher or anyone else....or vote or join the army. The law is stupid and outdated. If you want to put it in her contract as basis for employment fine. A lot of 18 year olds work. I guess their bosses, as authority figures, should be jailed if they have sex with them. They are not different than any other adult who has sex with anyone in authority over them.

 

Wow so a teacher sleeping with her student is ok because they are supposedly legal. Thats good to know. So in states where the age of consent is lower than 18 i guess its cool for teachers to sleep with them because its consensual. Isnt the teacher supposed to know better?
