So if it was about old and young. And he said "I don't want that frail man to bag my groceries" is he wrong?
i'm just saying hospitals are a place of business as well (whether you admit it or not), but you see requests not just with respect to doctors, but nurses and technicians as well. if a muslim woman requests another woman or women staff, you won't deny that even if it makes you butthurt because you are being discriminated upon. this isn't commie china...people do have rights. i do agree tho that the 'negroidal' shit coulda been kept out that was just tasteless
If I'm the manager, it's all about how reasonable I feel the customer's request is. Since when is who's bagging your groceries such a sensitive subject or requires a certain degree of expertise?? If a frail old man isn't up to the task, I doubt the store would have him in that capacity. But no, I would not try to fulfill the request of a customer that was obviously racist....you know, because he kinda said it upfront. Why are you giving this crazy racist dude the benefit of the doubt anyway?? He said he didn't want 'negroidal' people touching or bagging his groceries because it was against his creed. As a racist, your 'civil rights' rarely extend beyond the comfort of your own home. Most businesses aren't required to make special exceptions for racists because it's AGAINST THE LAW. If this guy was on a flight with a Black pilot, no he would not have the right to demand the airline either book him on another flight or let the white co-pilot fly the plane because Blacks in the cockpit violated his 'creed'.
that's where definitions need to be laid out and taken into consideration racism sexism antisemitism what does it mean to be racist? do you have to verbally say racially motivated stuff, or can you exhibit racism just by making certain decisions? by requesting an all-male contingent of staff at a hospital/clinic for my treatments, does that make me sexist, or am i just looking to make myself more comfortable? would such a practice discriminate against women, or would I be as justified as a muslim woman who says it's against her religion for men to see her naked?
My thing is, he has rights. His situation is not one people want to respect his rights for. I'm not saying the dude is right but he has rights. I don't agree with the homosexual lifestyle, but they have rights.
Again, this guy fucked up when he volunteered the real reason he wanted a different bagger. It's hard to prove racism in many cases because it's difficult to prove the intent or thought behind someone's actions. Once he basically admitted he was a racist, he had no rights to request a different bagger.
mind u..i don't like racists and i definitely don't like non-blacks that refer to us as Negroes or niggers i'm just interested in a little civil debate atm artyman: truth be told, if i were in the situation of the black guy, i would have probably wigged out
my exact words would have been... 'bag your own shit then, mothafucka!' in a Sam Jackson voice of course i didnt read the whole story tho to be honest (lazy bastard)..and i didnt read the BM's response but that shit woulda really been dirty if the brotha flipped on the white guy, and lost his job over it ud really see some shit then
Smgdmfh. Negroidal or whatever fuck he said is a diplomatic way of saying nigger and for those of you touting rights all over the forum i wonder how you would take it if a white man told you, you were a nigger in your face and said he didnt want you doing a service for him. Freedom of speech right? First Amendment right? People's rights end where other's begin.
ROFL. Moreover does this supermarket have only 1 bagger. Seems like he is intent on provoking the situation since he must not have much else going on in life to occupy himself. Its like every time he goes in the store he sees the black person and makes a "B" line right for there or something.
If I am a Congoid, does that mean I have conga drum-like features? Oh, is that what they're calling them these days?
definitely get a ill vibe from him the owner was a stand up guy tho, definitely in the old days, a white owner would have probably kicked out the black bagger for 'losing business'
After doing a little research I found a little bit of info, and private businesses are subject to federal and state anti-discrimination laws. These statutes prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, disability, gender and sex. Some also include sexual orientation. But they do have the right to refuse service to people in certain cases. When a customer is not properly dressed When a customer has been, or is being, disruptive When a customer harasses your employees or other customers When there are safety concerns When you know someone can't, or won't, pay When a customer is intoxicated or high When you need to protect another customer's privacy Now one can argue that the man in question was being disruptive and he was harassing an employee therefore the grocery stores refusing to serve the man was justified.
