When i see things like this ( when the cop says they were in fear of their life) why do they shoot to kill? Is that what they are trained to do? Why not just shoot them in the leg or something to difuse the situation?
It looks like the officer tried to avoid hitting her. The four year old was in the street and he tried not to hit her. Looks like it truly was an accident. If her father hadn't lost it and started pummeling the off duty police it appears he would be alive and his daughter would be recovering from minor injures. Christopher Middleton and his 4-year-old daughter Taniyah. An off-duty Chicago police officer injured a 4-year-old girl with his motorcycle, and then shot and killed her outraged father. Fraternal Order of Police Spokesman Pat Camden said the cop “fired in defense of his life,” the Chicago Sun-Times reported. The 43-year-old officer, an eight-year veteran of the force, intentionally ditched his motorcycle Saturday night in Maywood when he saw the little girl – identified by WLS-TV as Taniyah Middleton – suddenly run into his path. The downed bike skidded down the street, slamming into the 4-year-old and her 18-year-old cousin John Passley, who had rushed to help her. As the officer tried to help, her 26-year-old dad, Christopher Middleton, came out of a nearby restaurant. Officials said he was visibly angry and shouting. After the officer identified himself as a cop, Middleton punched him in the face and continued to pummel him after he fell to the ground. Passley allegedly joined in by kicking the officer. “He was about to lose consciousness to people beating him,” Camden said. The cop drew his gun and fired once at Middleton. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital later Saturday night, leaving behind a 6-year-old son and an unborn child as well as his daughter. "Chris was a great father," Middleton's cousin, Mathis Hoskin, said. "He was always helpful, never mad - always happy with a smile on his face." Taniyah spent the night in the hospital for contusions and abrasions, according to the Sun-Times. The officer suffered possible broken bones from the motorcycle accident, as well as contusions from the beating. "Her face was skinned, skin on her face," Darrell Davis, Middleton's uncle, said. "She's in a lot of pain right now." Maywood residents held a prayer vigil Sunday night. Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...er-motorcycle-article-1.1135200#ixzz23XHZMYhW
So this cop killed both the little girl and her father?? And that was a good day?? Some people IMO are too quick to use 'deadly force' when instead they should man up and do it old skool, with fists. It's so hard to literally beat another grown man to death when both are roughly the same size and neither has special fighting skills. You telling me this cop couldn't have taken out his gun and told this guy to stand down, or fire a few rounds into the air to wake this distraught father up that he was about to catch lead??? Poor excuse for a police officer. EDIT: I just read there were other people involved possibly in attacking this officer, but still in most cases when strangers hear live rounds being fired overhead, they calm the fuck down.:smt071
No reread the NY Daily news article. The girl is recovering from abrasions. The officer dumped his motorcycle to avoid hitting her and it slid into her anyway. He tried to avoid hitting her. Why was her father inside the restaurant as his four year old ran in the street. Ask that....... Why should any man much less police officer be beat for trying to avoid running over someone who ran into his path? Don't read the hater site article they are known to slant and give opinion...........not sure why kidpasta links to them unless he is a bw who owns that site.
Glad the girl didn't die. I still think the officer had other options instead of shooting the dad, but the girl's father clearly overreacted. Instead of fighting this PO he should have been seeing after his little girl.
Andre go to the second article to read a detain in full. I didn't quote the whole article. It said he was on the ground and they were beating him and he was nearly losing consciousness. He wasn't getting a warning tap from them......there were two angry men on him trying to hurt him. And why......... if he didn't spill his bike he likely would have killed the girl. He did the right thing........the father was wrong for not keeping a better eye on a four year old. Four year olds cant assess street dangers and other on their own.
This cop had two grown men beating him Last I checked u can die from from a beating especially if ur not conscious He identified himself and the two men still attempted to beat him to death U people here can't be serious
If I had two people beating me about the head and shoulders and I had a gun and a pack of mints........I'm shooting them. They get the gun. It's me or them at that point. He already said he was police what else do you need to do to make people stop. Maybe the dad was reacting to his own lack of parenting. You don't let a four year old run in traffic. He tried to avoid killing the girl who was in the street.......this is the thanks. The alternative would have been to bear down on her and kill her......but then he wouldn't have taken a beating.
