Yeah, read about this yesterday. I wondered how the few members complaining can even call themselves Christian with a straight face. Its not like it's a Rabbi refusing a Gentile, or a Muslim a Christian, or a gay couple here -- ugh, the Pastor should have kicked the racist members out, not worried about his job.

They seem like a beautiful couple and it's truly sad this tainted their wedding day. Wishing them a wonderful married life.

 

I saw this elsewhere but wanted to say glad the minister went with what was in his heart and made this happen for the couple. The others will need to answer for their hatred.

 

In the end, it's the pastor's decision as to who will be married in the church (taking into account the Bible's teachings, the bylaws of the church and his own conscience.). Imo, he missed a teaching opportunity in this case. I'm disappointed in his decision to cave to the demands of his congregation; the "tradition" is plain ol' discrimination with no biblical principle to back it up.

 

Whats worse, it wasn't his whole congregation, just a few racist vocal ones. The bride's father is a member, her uncle works there, the couple frequently attended services and were going to join once married there.

Who are these appalling frauds of humanity - they need to be outed, if that is their conviction to the point they wish to remove a man of the cloth who wants to marry two Christians under God. Man up.

The fact that someone designates him or herself as Christian doesnt necessarily mean he or she exhibits the core value of Christianity. The Klu klux klan refer to the bible and call themselves "good white Christians" . The Catholic Bishops who abuse boys call themselves Christians.

im just saying that's some bullshit

a church i used to frequent with my family was predominately white, and I used to sing on their choir and sleepover with other kids when they had them. Bottom line, I've had some really great times and felt really accepted by everyone there. I'm disgusted that people aren't practicing what they learn.
