This Is the Obama-Aurora Billboard Everyone's Talking AboutThis billboard got a lot of media attention this weekend for its meme-style juxtaposition of President Obama and Aurora-shooter James Holmes. Styled like something you'd see on Reddit, the billboard features side-by-side pictures of the two men with the words "kills 12 in movie theater with assault rifle, everyone freaks out" over Holmes' picture, and "kills thousands with his foreign policy, wins nobel peace prize" over Obama's picture. Maurice Clements is the guy in charge the billboard. He's part of a group who honor the memory of Libertarian Ralph Smeed. He says the group is angry over Obama not bringing the troops home. "We’re all outraged over that killing in Aurora, Colo., but we’re not outraged over the boys killed in Afghanistan," Clements said. Locals think the billboard is "pathetic," and "abhorrant."

See I understand people wanting to bring troops home, but there are better ways of expressing it than having our President and a fucking psychopath side by side on a billboard. Thats some low shit. smh:smt011

Yeah. Like I said, I understand the point they were trying to make but it could have been expressed another way.

    How the hell?

This man needs to be sued. Those boys are being killed because of a different president and his 4 sizes to small caked with bacon grease arteries asshat of a VP.

If only people could actually remember the way things actually went down.

Look at the website of the guy who put it up. He's from Idaho. Enough said.

Actually neither would be embarrassing, as both are competent men who are well-educated and achieved pinnacles of success in law, politics, and business prior to 2012. I'd prefer to criticize an Obama administration than a Romney one over the next four years, but either way America's greatness will shine through as it always does.

The billboard, like so much political discourse, oversimplifies the real world by applying tortured logic and poor analogies to complex problems.

Where was the outrage when people wanted the troops to come home during the Bush administration?

Oh yeah, those people were referred to as being "un-patriotic".

To have a billboard like that is still reprehensible and uncalled for regardless of who our president is.

The behavior of people in this country makes me sick sometimes. smh

People act as if the POTUS can wave a magic wand and instantaneously remove tens of thousands of troops and personnel equipment in a weekend.

FWIW, Obama and the Pentagon are in the process of turning over Afghanistan to a civilian government and their own military.

It's shocking to me the amount of shit Obama catches for cleaning up the mess the OTHER dumbass administration left on his doorstep.

The 2nd worst economy since the Great Depression and two wars the moment he was inaugurated, and suddenly it's OBAMA'S PROBLEM.
    Bullshit.

The same assholes won't even give the man credit for ENDING the war in Iraq.

BTW, Romney is just a 'smarter' Dubya, but he believes in ALL the same foreign and domestic policies.

If ROmney is elected, be prepared to see us in a hot war with Iran in 3 years.
    God Bless America.:partyman::partyman:

Romney might be ivy league educated but he is not intelligent. He comes off as a schmuck who doesnt think before he speaks. How the hell do you take a dig at the organizational ability of the British who are hosting the Olympic games when you are about to go visit them. That guy has put his foot in his mouth so many times i think he walks on one leg cus the other one is permanently stuck in his mouth

Romney's security concerns were un-PC and undiplomatic, but they were real. He was front and center in SLC amidst the domestic terrorist assault, so he's no doubt noticing security holes, particularly as a visiting politician most likely unpopular in a "Democratic-friendly country".

All he said was this -

"You know, it's hard to know just how well it will turn out. There are a few things that were disconcerting, the stories about the-- private security firm not having enough people-- supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials, that obviously is not something which is encouraging..."

Which was his response to a question when a reporter asked him for his 'Experienced EYE" opinion....
what did he say that was so wrong?

    WHY he said it -
Also this - A strike by border staff that was planned ( that has since been called off due to outrage.)

    Also this -
“Three people who were due to work as security staff at an Olympic venue have been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences", the Home Office said.”

I agree with you COMPLETELY. It's apples and oranges, and the 'allusion" to connect him in any shape or form is disgusting.

    (Great thread, btw).

Diplomacy is about telling white lies when you are visiting a foreign country, its simple COMMON SENSE. If what he said was no big deal, the Prime Minister wouldnt have retorted that it was easy to make the statement Romney did if one hosted an event in the middle of nowhere which was a dig at Romney's involvement in the winter olympics in Utah. David Cameron was clearly not too enthused about Romney's remarks.
