It was Mrs. Loki's turn to pick the movie and she thought this would be funny (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0770703/). Typical hollywood formula "love is right in front of you" girl falls for guy movie. The part that pissed me off was that YET AGAIN they make the Black guy gay, so that he cannot hook up with the beautiful White woman, even when in this story they used to date and she is very interested in rekindling their romance. The Black guy is not just gay, as he puts it he is now "super gay" while miming taking penises in every orifice possible.

Just to be clear I have no issue with gay folks, live and let live, I am just SICK AND TIRED of sooooooo many examples (Spin City, Sweet Home Alabama, Three to Tango, True Blood, Scary Movie, I could go on and on) of anytime an articulate, intelligent, cultured, successful Black man is around attractive White women in Hollywood productions, he is made gay so they cannot possibly get together.

Sorry, just had to vent a little, this is a pet peeve of mine... carry on.

I wouldn't watch that shit even without the well-worn image of black men. You can't be a black actor in Hollywood without being asked to put on a dress and act effeminate. Black men were portrayed as more masculine in the past than now. Ask Jim Brown to put on a dress and he'd punch you in the face. With Tyler Perry, it's become a self-enforced image of us. Tall and 200 lb plus black men acting like bitches to remove the sexual threat of black dick from the movie screen. Fuck that.

Tyler Perry wants to be a lady. What better way for him to live his closet life in the open.

They got the dude from Spartacus as a minor character. Damn now that I think of it the only other black dude was Eggs who got clipped in the head in Season 2 but even he was with a black chick who btw has been with other kinds of men and is just fine. You really gotta wonder are white male producers really scared of the black dick like that.

you shoulda stopped typing right there

    :p

notice they had to pop him off, even tho many ladies (including the ones on this forum) considered him to be a sex symbol. couldn't have him overshadowing the white phalli of of Mr Northman and Bill Compton:smt019

so now we get all these 'hot' white guys for people to swoon over, like black people don't watch the show

Good point. I always wonder why there are next to no vampires. Up until this season I never saw one and they had to make one of the existing characters one. I get its the south and its a back woods area but when I think about the entire genre you rarely if ever see any and when you do its in shit movies like Queen of the Damn with exception of Blade (that shit ruled)

Always hoped for a Blade/Buffy crossover movie. Maybe now that Joss Whedon is on team Marvel after the success of the Avengers we might see

I hope you guys realize you're arguing over TRUE BLOOD...yes, TRUE BLOOD. LOL, my God.

It's a show catered to teen (mostly) white girls who love that stupid vampire shit. What in the hell are you doing watching it?

Uh, nope - its actually not. Its nothing like the teen girl love Twilight. Far from it. I take it you really haven't seen it... or you wouldn't say what you just said.
    :)

There are actually more 55 - 64 yo watching this than <18 yo.
The biggest group is from 18-44 and there are almost as many men as women watching it.

ah, he is missing out. He cant have seen it or he would know that most teen girls in general would not watch this for the same reason most teenage girls dont watch scary movies. Its too bloody, violent and dark.

There is really no romance, but plenty of sex.. and innards and ripped off heads and exploding bodies etc. LOL.

And as you say, great writers. I wish they kept Eggs though.

Great points FG. The point that I and the other men are making has nothing to do with the demographics of the show, it has to do with how we are being portrayed as Black men and how they limit IR romance.

They revealed in the trailer that the black guy (Anthony Mackie's character) was gay and my eyes rolled back into their sockets. Of course he is! That way his sleeping with the white female lead years earlier doesn't really count.
