Just asking that question whether i know who she meant just exposes your ignorance. Are you really that dense? I know people have said you arent the sharpest tool in the shed here but i didnt actually believe you could ask such a retarded question. You actually think she meant white Africans as well? If a white African stood in front of you, you might never know until the person tells you or shows you his or her passport. If you would pull your head out of your ass and do a little reading you would easily know that African immigrants in Greece are 99% from sub saharan Africa. Its good to try and debate an issue but in your case you are not looking too good. Just do some reading it's not too difficult.
There are very few instances of pure colorblind situations in America. You may not make a decision based on race, but you sure as hell NOTICE it. Right wingers love to promote the myth of 'color blindness', like when Obama was elected meant that racism was DEAD in America. Why is it that right wingers really get all knotted up when the topic of race or racism is discussed???
Seems like these athletes, have to take a few pages from the Roger Federer book. i.e. find a girl before you make it big, and STICK WITH HER. NEVER CHEAT! Don't believe me, ask Kobe. 'Funny' thing, this does happen in the UK, but mainly to white athletes. They both had sex with her(without consent), but the white guy was convicted, got 5 years, and the black guy was acquitted, free to walk. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...rown-away-successful-career-jailed-years.html Every time I read the threads here, the impression I get is; America must hate, black men. You guys need to immigrate. As you're American, you will get a warm reception.
Bulma, a great read is Dr. Earl Ofari Hutchinson's "Assination of the Black Male Image". It goes into the historical and modern day roots of the unique, institutional, insidious, and pervasive racism that targets Black people in general and Black men in particular here in the U.S. While there are media hungry race baiters here in the U.S. who make their living dragging racism into every issue whether it exists or not, it does not take away from the fact that the Black man is usually portrayed as the universal bad guy, Great article below that sums it up nicely. Lastly, as someone who has been fortunate enough to travel to different countries, I often times feel A LOT more comfortable and receive much warmer and welcoming reactions from those I encounter in foreign countries, especially the U.K, than i do when I am traveling domestically, which is bittersweet to say the least. http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/opinion/perspectives/leonard-pitts-jr-call-me-boogeyman-344663/
Powerful article Loki. The sad thing is when we get into these discussion is I know this causes a lot of the American born women to feel a little comfortable because they personally dont harbor those kinds of feelings nor surround themselves with people who do but the problem is unfortunately they can't bgin to relate. Its tough feeling hated in your own homeland the way we are. Whats even worst is the feeling that I have to live thousands of miles away from where I grew up just to ne treated as a human being. Automatic gestures of kindness and respect are far extended to me by men and women of European Australian and Canadian decent then those who also call themselves New Yorkers. They dont see an educated man the same way they see a criminal they dont treat me and my brothers as bottom of the barrel. Women there dont usuly treat me like some mythical beast with abnormal appendages, they notice my smile and appreciate my dark skin more so than many of the girls I went to school with. Im an option rather than a last resort. Sorry long ass tangent. Great article though.
you see paniro love to deny racism unless its just soooo obvious such as a hanging....you see he didnt say anything like the black banned from wedding in a white church...but then again he probably believe if they werent so black then they would have been able to have the wedding
That's a good find Loki. What countries have you traveled to? I'm aware also that blacks are portrayed as being the "bad guy" (this is a global perspective), but I've also been around and interacted with white people who I meet in public places throughout the Washington, DC area that have treated me with a level of decency and respect, and not make an automatic assumption that I'm bad just because I'm black. For a lot more information on why things are the way they are, I suggest buying this book. http://www.amazon.com/Turbulent-Voyage-Readings-African-American/dp/0939693526
Good reference Mikey I will check out that book. I've traveled throughout Europe, all over Canada (except the Maritimes), all over the Caribbean, domestically, every state except Alaska. Still on the list - need to get to Australia, and some parts of Asia and Africa.
