    This.

I know she's blonde and pretty but I can't believe people in this thread were actually coming to that woman's defense.

It is imperative that people educate themselves and stop exhibiting crass ignorance talking about white Africans in this scenario. White Africans mostly South Africans and in other Southern nations like Zambia Namibia and Botswana do not travel in large numbers to Europe to become immigrants, its mostly sub saharan Africans who do that for economic reasons. This woman was clearly talking about black sub-saharan Africans and you dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. For people who are surprised that some are defending the woman, well i am not and funnily enough they are not white.

I may be black and ashy, she don't even like me, but if she's white she's right.

Now back to the task at hand.

Gotta say after reading up about Golden Dawn and the fact she's a supporter changes my position completely. At first glance I didn't see it as such a big deal like if an NFL dude or baseball player made a poor joke about women I wouldn't think of them as supporter of beating women (most men aren't) but after further research about this chick I'm glad she's not out there competing. What train wreck

Yeah, I didn't realize her comments came in the context of "Golden Dawn's" mentality.

I found it originally strange she even made the comments and then it became obvious why that was the case as more about her became known.

This isn't a nod toward racism or anything, but, as far as GD, they were racist and pretty much had a piss poor attitude toward woman. It was partly due to the times as well. They were based on Masonic tradition to a degree but did have female members.
Uh..her name escapes me at the mom...OH dion fortune was a member as was Pamela Coleman smith.

So even though they were a bit mysoginist...they didn't wholly back up that attitude. Of course that's a lot different than being flat out bigoted. I'm really just saying that GD as a whole isn't a racist organization..now.

And look at AC...crazy as all get out..but have you ever read The Bornless One? Pure genius.

The article that the OP put in this thread didn't have it.....but every other article on her said she tweeted two tweets (or more) about Golden Dawn and agreeing with them. So people can be curious and read further than what is posted here of course. I read it and formed my opinion on her after that.

I think if you take all hertwitter posts, as her Olympic Committee did, then she was treated fairly. Athletes aren't supposed to use the Olympics as a platform for politics. And she may have erased things but you can always find a cached copy thank you internet. So she is brazen and did this to herself. When you read she is bitter over what has happened well she can thank herself. That is why I pointed out she never directly apologizes to her insultees. She is not sorry one bit to them only for herself. Next.

Two excepts from another article. And saty was right.....she was not expected to medal.

Papachristou was not expected to compete for a medal. She would not have entered the consciousness of anyone in the United States had she not tweeted a tortured joke -- her term, not mine -- about Africans and West Nile disease: "With so many Africans in Greece, the West Nile mosquitoes will be getting home food!!!"

In a word: none. No benefit at all. But here's the thing: Her tweet about mosquitoes was just the chocolate shavings on top of the cupcake. She had retweeted links related to an extreme right-wing group called Golden Dawn, which went from the sidelines to a spot in the Greek parliament after earning 7 percent of the vote in last month's parliamentary elections. Its spokesman, Ilias Kasidiaris, one of Golden Dawn's 18 parliamentary members, punched one female parliament member and threw water in the face of another during a television show several weeks ago. By all accounts, "deranged" might be a compliment. But on July 20, Papachristou tweeted to Kasidiaris, "Many happy years, be always strong and true!!!" (The triple exclamation, it seems, is something of a trademark.) She erased that tweet, and every other one related to Golden Dawn, after the uproar regarding the mosquito tweet.
