So sorry to hear about your loss nicole, but as you said it was the best for her and you have done the right thing. I'm sure it seems an empty place without her right now but know that you gave her a good life and she will always live on in your heart.
Just got Tofu back. I did have a "private" cremation (remains are in a box so the ashes can be separated from the rest) so I could get the ashes back. It came in a nice cedar box in a purple sack and they provided a heart shaped adornment that has flower-seeds in it so when I bury the ashes I can put that on top. It was less expensive than putting him to sleep so I went for it. I'm glad I did.
Sorry to hear of your loss Nicole, you showed your last true measure of devotion. Very cool idea with the seeds FG.
My dogs were always looking like the Champions of body-building just with playing football, swimming, running or playing with other dogs, what is important for a social behaviour, plus the owner is active, gets to know a lot of people too "Le Chat"(as I call him)- is doing pretty much better. We've been at the veterinary yesterday,( he didn't even wanted to be paid), "Le Chat" is a male, over ten yrs and I involved the animal protection. Let's see, what's going to happen
I'm sure, he would love to move to LA:smt112..was Tofu also male? Can you tell me his average weight? I have to make a dossier with pics and his weekly weight. He at the moment is 3.6kg/7.94lbs, he was 3.2kg when I've taken him, btw I think he would be proud of you!
RIP. . It's been a couple of years now. Their violent rep is just too much. Gunned down because he was out with no leash.
Yes, Tofu was male and he was a big cat averaged about 14-15 lb. He was 6lb when he passed but that made him a skeleton as he was a tall, and long cat. So Le Chat has been lacking food before he found you? What is the plan? Come visit and bring him:-D
He was a gorgeous dog, Stizzy. I'm so sorry you lost him in such a horrible way. The rep they've gained via the media and irresponsible (and, in some cases, down right evil) owners/breeders is heartbreaking.
I am very sorry to hear that, Stizzy this is heartbreaking. This was the biggest fear I've always had that someone is shooting my dog. Some people are soo much afraid of special breeds, especially (Staffordshire, Bull Terrier, Mastino, Rottweiler or Dobermans) that they shhot immediatly. I've also had some experiences with that ignorance, why I was moving back to Germany/Bavaria with my last dog, because there we have different laws.
I've observed him a few weeks, but the last week I was asking the neighbours around me, whether they know, what's going on with the cat. One woman told me the owner is on holidays. At saturday I just took him in my appartment, the misery I was not able to watch anymore. I registered him as "lost" and after 8 weeks, if nobody is searching LeChat, he is free for a new owner. The dossier is important for the penalty of wilful neglect of pets and that she doesn't get him back or that she gets no allowance for any other animal in future. The other point is, whether he is sick, but also then, you cannot simply kick your pet out on the streets, because you go on holidays.
Stizzy, i was thinking about your story and had the feeling to do something.. hope you understand what I am trying to say
(WE ALL CAN LEARN HOW TO LIVE FROM OUR DOGS--EVEN IF WE DON'T HAVE ONE) A Dog's Purpose: from a 6-year-old. Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure as they felt that Shane might learn something from the experience. The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without anydifficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why." Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live. He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?" The Six-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long." Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like: * When loved ones come home, always run to greet them; * Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride; * Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy; * Take naps; * Stretch before rising; * Run, romp, and play daily; * Thrive on attention and let people touch you; * Avoid biting when a simple growl will do; * On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass; * On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree; * When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body; * Delight in the simple joy of a long walk; * Be loyal; * Never pretend to be something you're not; * If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it; * When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently; There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people and love the people who treat you right. Think good thoughts for the ones who don't ~ life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of LIFE... Getting back up is LIVING...
