When you're representing something greater than yourself, what the fuck do you really expect? You're in the Olympics, you're representing your country, you're in the military, you're representing your country, you're playing college ball, you're representing your school and so on. You fuck up and an example will be made to show that the rest of who you represent don't act or think that way. The punishment may be fucked up but the rest of who you represent doesn't want this shit to fuck up how everyone else views them.
O.K...O.K.....it was a misunderstanding....but you know I'm old schooler....I forgot that in the lingo the whole woman is represented as a man's ass or booty..........It is ironic that Gfunk once also schooled me that is now generationally hip to greet others, including men, with the phrase ---- " Whats hanging".........
dunno....depending on who you talking to and their sexual orientation, that shit might be literal like a mofo
As many economic problems Greece is having she doesn't have room to talk. If you are in the public spotlight be prepared to be scrutinized more.
Still being represented. The Olympic Commission can do what they want. Dana White cuts UFC athletes for making misogynistic comments. Same thing. Private organization. I have free speech, YES, but if I say something that is within conflict of the company I work for then they might fire me for that.
Apparently the actual comment she made was I recall asking myself how did this comment even get brought up, it turns out she is a supporter of the Nationalist, far right, anti-immigrant party, Golden Dawn. Well known in Greece for capitalizing on the poor Greek economy and anti-immigrant stance. She was partaking in discourse along those avenues of Golden Dawn political sentiments and this came to the forefront in her post. Definitely seems she is not too keen on darkies in Greece. Africans were just the quickest reference point she has socially when her fingers were pounding the keyboard. In its totality, the Greek Olympic Committee probably came down on her harder knowing those very sentiments she possesses above as a supporter of a party that plays to and garners its support from race based political attitudes.
LOL @ this thread. For those of you who don't know, which would be anybody trying to spin this girl's comment into something other than an anti-black slur, there's been a flood of BLACK Africans into Mediterranean countries like Greece and Italy. There's also been sharp raise in Greek racism/nationalism since their economy went into the shitter. If you don't know what I'm talking about, do a Google search for "Golden Dawn." This was a racist/fascist fringe group a couple of years ago. Now, it's a major political party in Greece. There's a conversation to be had about oversensitivity and whether or not people should stop stressing about people who make racist remarks, but you don't make the point any more effectively by being obtuse and pretending the sky is red instead of blue. It's fine that you don't care about what some random athlete from another country says (I sure as fuck don't), but don't try and spin this shit like it was some general comment about whites, South Asians, and Chinese contractors who live in different parts of Africa and not the black African migrants/refugees whose presence is pissing a lot of people off in this girl's country.
Can't believe I see black folk defending this girl. When you're representing an entire country, you can't say shit like that.... not even going to get into the specifics of it.
That's what I'm shocked at. I keep hearing "freedom of speech", as if she is suffragette, fighting for women's rights. She is a bigoted woman that has been found out. Plus, it's not just about racism. She is sponsored. Therefore, they do not want to lose money. Take Tiger Woods. He cheated on his wife and lost sponsorship. I don't see how saying a racist joke is "in bad taste" or "just banter". It reveals the state of mind of the person. She is not Usain Bolt or Lionel Messi. She cannot get a pass, because she is not talented or famous enough either. She does the long-jump.....pointless sport.
Would you pipe down, Judge Roy Bean. This isn't a civil war case. So true, because when people think Africa.....they think Chinese Twitter, Facebook etc, have been around for the best part of 10 years. She knew the deal. She was just arrogant to believe she could get away with it.
Let a white person make a joke and use the N word and lets see whether the einsteins who say its her right and freedom of speech will be on the rooftops shouting racism or not.
"thats because you are a democrap. negroe republicans are much more aware of their place. thats because our negroes are better than negroes the democrats own. " ----ann coulter "thats right we know our place. we are disease infested. "---jesse lee peterson
Goodlove, There you go again....misconstruing, twisting and altering what they both said.....Following your party's pattern---distorting the truth to inflame peoples passions.......Leave those conservatives alone Goodlove......
Repped you for raising those points Bulma. I read up on her and it seems her sympathies are allied with the Golden Dawn Party, so those commentaries she made as you stated comes from a place of her state of mind. Oh she can speak freely, no one threw her in jail for her comments, but if the Greek Olympic Federation feels she is not abiding by their standards as a representative of Greece on the international stage then she has to deal with the results for her sentiments that seem to follow a racial line, this comment just being one aspect of that. We live in a world of consequences and repercussions for our actions, the internet doesn't provide anonymity all the time.
