Are you fucking serious You do realize you would be categorized as European, even though you live in the states, just as we are considered AFRICAN-American Come on now jc
Ref, are you serious? You're really trying to defend her? So if she mentioned about apes or negroes in her post in addition to what she already said, would you still defend her right to say it? If your posts (and the posts of people defending her) were copied onto a forum composed of mainly white men, they would laugh at you guys. Wake up. Not all white women really like black men. Some are racist. Some are indifferent. Some like us. That's the way it is throughout the world. Here are some really good comments from Huffington Post about what she said. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/...tou-greek-olympic-racist-tweet_n_1701410.html
Well like I said its interesting to get your pov on this but based solely on what was printed its hard for me to see that as racist. In poor taste absolutely and lets say it is in fact racist then hit that bitch with a $50,000 dollar fine that will make others think twice about saying dumb shit like that. Disqualification/firing someone for saying something like that isn't the way to go imo. We should be trying to deconstruct harmful actions not thoughts. If every infraction has the same result it only builds resentment not understanding. And to answer your question when racist jokes are made I don't agree with firing people. Should there be consequences? Of course. And btw to make this clear I didn't say what she said wasn't offensive and shouldn't be punished I just didn't agree with the severity.
Many of the men on here have said they do not identify with Africa. They say it themselves. In many others topics. It has be the AA vs the Africans. People used to make fun of BMJ non stop on that subject. So nice try. If she had been from anywhere else and said it about residents of anywhere else the reaction should be the same. She is insinuating those people are lesser than her people. Look above appiah says he is not happy and uhhhh he is for real African. She could have really just kept her mouth shut.......she is not representing herself in the games but her country. No doubt why they booted her.
the next time some courteous WM decides to help my logistical situation, by telling me to 'go back to the jungle with your bananas,' i'll just kindly remind him that I'm not African cool advice, jordan i'll also remember this to gauge your response to the next idiot who makes fun of the Irish or whatever since you're not really Irish because you're not from Europe.
I identify with Africa, and also the Carribbean. I even remember Arwen making a post saying that the DNA of all humans traces back to Africa. We are all African. Or maybe it's better to say that we all have "African" within us. That's why racism makes no sense.
I am telling you the position I have seen many here take. Go back to BMJ's days.......he used to take all kinds of crap for being African.
I remember in my early days here i used to get real mad at some black Americans for mocking Africans and yet calling themselves AFRICAN-Americans. Then i read one interesting statistic which said the only people who cannot trace their roots to the exact country where they come from are slave descendants hence they are without an identity so instead of being mad i became sorry for the ignorant ones among them, one of which has posted in this thread(not you TDK you have Jamaican roots). When i see stuff like this i just ask myself what's new cus its the same old shit just a different day.
It is not everyday that I hear discussion from another man about my booty......You might wanna to protect your self and re-word it.....
if that's what you wanted to pull out of that, so be it i was referring to booty ie WOMEN but if u got some gay issues goin on...:smt100
im just sayin...i write booty and this mofo thinks someone's talking about his butt stop playin with me, son :?
I think the crime deserves the punishment. Even though you can argue in regards to freedom of speech. There is responsibility that comes in what you say. There is a speech code you ought to respect. If she was a self employed professional athlete, you can argue by saying the punishment is harsh. In her case she is representing a country, not just a country but where the Olympics originated. The Olympics suppose to be about brother hood and sisterhood and friendly competition. So her saying offensive stuff and trying to rep Greece does not add up. I think the committee did the right thing by expelling her. She would have been a distraction. Oh well, hope she is not too old for 2016 in Brazil, otherwise say SAYONARA to Olympics dream, bitch, LMAO.
