i didnt see it until like 6 months ago on Netflix as i wrote before, I think he did a good job too if people havent watched it..look at it..even if its only because Jessica Biel is in it :smt049
I'm unclear why people think if you are a singer you can't possibly act. Most actors were waiters before they were actors........does that make you more supremely qualified??! If you find Denzel's early movies I bet he sucks in them too. You gotta pay your dues and get better at your craft.
For someone to play MLK I would you want more than decent fam. For iconic roles I like to see actual actors. I'm not against Neyo acting he was "decent" in Stomp The Yard but he ain't no James Earl Jones or Morgan Freeman. Just wish we could go back to when people did just one fricking thing. Or be really interesting and go from acting to physics or from rapping to designing furniture. These people just seem like there's never enough attention
All I can say is eh. True but eh. Like I said it would be nice to see a well established or very talented up and comer portray such an iconic role. To be honest Neyo is too young to play MLK in my opinion anyway
IMO there is nothing foolish about Ne-Yo making his music a priority over acting. I think being true to oneself is always more admirable than being an opportunist. I have much respect for his decision. His decision also leaves an opening for a real actor whose priority and passion is acting, which makes his choice even more respectable IMO. As for the Will Smith comparison, he's much better at acting than he's ever been at music. Many rappers and musicians who try their hands at acting need to stick to music and leave the stage and big screen to real actors.
Singers, especially rappers n shit, have a history of being shit actors, probably because they usually try to let their own personality mix with or take over the character rather than become the character 100 percent. Snoop is a perfect example. Every movie he's in is Snoop, not much of an actual character.
well u know MLK was quite the womanizer woulda been a stretch for NeYo to pull off without a mothafucka laughing at him
lol all bullshit aside snoop is the man if u go anywhere around the world and say 'Snoop', people automatically know who u talking about
Most definitely, you don't even have to say Dogg, he's on that one name status. His style, not just rapping, is one of those ones you can't duplicate just like that(although, he did model his rapping style after Richie Rich, but that's another story)
how come bullshit like CSI and law and order get spin-offs in different cities and shit, but we only get one iteration of The Wire? bring that shit to philadelphia or new york or something..stop playin
In fact, Samuel Jackson and Anthony Mackie agree with you.... 'Anthony Mackie Sounds Off on Rappers-Turned-Actors' -- http://www.bvonmovies.com/2010/08/19/anthony-mackie-sounds-off-on-rappers-turned-actors/
WILL SMITH THE END that rapper turned actor will fill more seats and sell more shit than Anthony Mackie (who?) will ever do
LOL...but as Tam pointed out... "As for the Will Smith comparison, he's much better at acting than he's ever been at music." But forget Mackie, what about Samuel Jackson feeling the same way? Ok, he did say this in 2002 and may have changed his mind since then.
